I called up PC World technical service to get a solution to my PC being very slow and shutting itself down contantly even after only being on a for a couple of minutes.

The person I spoke to told me I need to pay 19 pounds to speak to a Tech guy. I then told her I do not want to pay anything if it's not going to resolve my problem. She then told me that they will give me advice which will resolve my problem. I then paid the fee and spoke to a Tech guy.

I explained the problems i was having and said that i might have a virus. He didn't really listen to what I was telling him as he just said that I should wipe my computer by inserting the discs i would have received and this will reset my PC to it's original state. I then said I will try it and call back, but he told me that this is a one off service.

I was in such shock that i just put the phone down. After reflection i realised that i would loose all the information on my pc which will cause me a lot of incovenience as i have done this in the past. I called back and explained this to another Tech guy and futher expressed my upset at paying the 19 pounds expecting a solution and have not received this. He told me that I got what I paid for.

I spoke to another lady who found out that the service is only valid for one hour and i would then need to pay again and most probably i have a hardware problem, which they can't resolve and i would have to pay seperately for this.

I wrote an email explaining that i was missold the service of the tech guys and received a reply that i received advice and that is what i paid for. I have take my pc to work where the IT department has managed to resolve my problem without deleting anything or it costing me anything.

PC world is clearly trying to scam customers into paying for the so called advice the tech guys give by misleading us into thinking it will resolve our problems, but in fact this is not the case.

I will never shop at PC World as they have lost my trust and wanted to let others know as I would not want them to do the same to anyone else.

I again confirmed in a e-mail to PC World that i was missold the service as i was told i would get a solution and not just advice and they again confirmed that they will not give me a refund as they gave me advice, which is what the 19 pound fee was for. Telling someone to wipe their computer clean and start again to me is not advice, but common sense and a easy way out.
