In March 2016 I applied for the Uber Xchange Lease Program.  Xchange checked my credit and I was approved.  I was given a list of local dealerships in my area to choose from.  I chose Pacific Nissan.  I was told all I had to do is make an appointment with the Uber rep at the dealership, with $250 cash or cashiers check,  I went to the dealership and spoke with the "Uber" dealer.  while in the office filling out the paper work for what I thought was for the lease I was already approved for, another person came into the office, started asking who I worked for, how much money I make, etc...  I asked why they needed to know this information and if they were running my credit for some reason, I got no answer.

A few minutes later another person comes in the office and has paperwork for me to look over to sign.  It gave me 3 choices for the amount of money to put down on the car, I saw they did have the $250 listed and I told them, that I was told to bring $250 with me and I just picked the car, and should be on my way, he seemed confused.  I then handed to give them the $250.

Next the first guy comes back in the room and asks me if I know what is going on.  I said yes, I am there to sign up for my Uber Xchange lease and get my car, he tells me that I have 2 choices, either pay the large amount for the lease or pay less amount to purchase the car.  I told them I was there for the Uber Xchange lease I had already been approved for, and again asked if my credit was being run by them.  I was asked if that was a problem, I said yes, I didn't give anyone permission to run my credit, no one asked or told me it was going to be done, and I had no intent to purchase a car that day. I was then told not to worry about it and that we would be done with the paper work soon.

After 6 hours being at the dealership, I finally get to go home with my car I leased.  The next day I started to receive multiple alerts that my credit score had changed, it was at that time that I noticed that Pacific Nissan did indeed run my credit.  and my credit score dropped by 16 points.

I called and emailed Pacific Nissan about what they had done and got no response, When I did get a responce I was told there was nothing they could do, and to contact the Credit Agencies They contacted and the buero's and tell them what had happend.

I sent "official" Certified letters to all agencies and have started receiving letters back that I need to contact the dealership about this.

All I want is for Pacific Nissan to clear this matter up.  I never requested to have my credit run by Pacific Nissan, if after the Lease I wanted to purchase a car I wouldn't be able to, due to my credit being run multiple times, and those checks stay on my record for 2 years.  this has just become one giant circle with no solution or admitiance of fault.

Any help from anyone would be great.

Okay the best advice I can give you is "Chill Out", the world isn't coming to an end because your credit was run.

So first off, I am not going to go into what you "thought" you were doing or if they did or did not tell you that what you are signing was for a credit check.  Because it is YOUR responsibility to read and understand what you are signing BEFORE you sign it.  Now, if NOTHING you signed stated that you were authorizing a credit check you are correct and it needs to be corrected.  And you do have legal avenues through the FCRA(Fair Credit Reporting Act) you can take.  But with that said.

Yes I get it you were so hyped up because you were getting a nice car for $250 down and figured that a dealer has no problem just handing over a car worth thousands of dollars in a matter of minutes.  In fact I am surprised you didn't think there was some sort of "express lane" for people like you.

Now, as for your score.  Inquiries are a very small part of your overall score.  They also have a very short term "negative" effect.  Yes, right after the inquiry your score will drop, but after 6 months they are minimal and after a year have almost zero effect.  It is also a fact that if you have good credit inquiries alone, especially just a few won't reject you or change your loan approval status.  Because lenders are well aware of people buying/leasing cars and having their credit run.  They know if you have your credit run multiple times for a car, you aren't buying multiple cars..you are buying one.  So unless you are going to do a major purchase in the next few months it won't matter in the long run.

But "new accounts" will also cause it to drop.  I would find it odd that as part of the requirements for the lease that it does not also show up on your credit as well.  If it did show up then that could explain the drop as well making the inquiries even more meaningless.

One final thing, this program from them has very specific requirements.  Including types of cars, mileage, year, and price.  What were the details of the car you were purchasing?  If it was outside of the program limits that could also explain several things as well.
