i went to try to get a loan for a car. the bank called me and told me that this collection debt was on my report. i knew i never had any accounts with at&t. so there for the bank won't lend me any money. even though this is the only bad there on the credit report because it is lowering my credit score.

What you are going to WANT (and I stress want) to do is call AT&T the wireless dept. I worked for the company before att took over. In otherwards back when it was Cingular. What you need to do is call the customer service department and TELL them you need to speak to the fraud department. Dont let them give you the run around because some people will because they dont want to waste a transfer. (you can only have so many transfers a day, hard to explain.) Or you can even ask them for the 800#. You need to talk to the fraud department first because things like this are not just put on people's credit report.
If you have never had an acct with ATT or Cingular then this is what needs to happen, because the fraud department will do their investigation and they are very good, and if it is determined that it is not yours then it will be taken off of your credit report. The number for the customer service is 1-800-331-0500. You are going to want to also put a fraud alert out on your social security number.

to all three credit card agencies, Equifax, Transunion and Experian stating the exact thing you stated on this report. You can google them and find their addresses on the internet. You should also go to naca and find an attorney in your area that handles these 3rd party bottomefeeder scum issues. You could and should sue the hell out of them for this.
