*Consumer Suggestion: Denita...STOP!!!...Do NOT speak to them!..
I received a collection also from AT&T Wireless for and oustanding balance of $1000. I did have a deliquent bill, but I dont think it was that much. I called to make payment arrangements and a lady that was handling my account, was loud rude and she hung the phone up in my ear. I called back to speak with a supervisor and the supervisor was as rude as the lady i spoke to before. I decided to research this company and realized Im not the only one complaining. If anyone knows a good way to handle this please contact me. I will be contacting the BBB and FTC. I suggest you do the same.

Denita...STOP!!!...Do NOT speak to them!..

Denita,
Rule# 1! NEVER speak to any collector on the phone! NEVER agree to a debt until you know it is legally collectable.
How old was the debt? It may be past statute of limitations for collections.
Then, make them validate it! DEMAND to see proof they actually own it or have a right to collect it. Demand to see licensing info on them to do debt collections in YOUR state. DEMAND to see whatever you signed to create the debt as well as an account history.
These are your rigts under FEDERAL LAW. Go to ftc.gov and read and print out the FDCPA.
Debt collectors are absolutely powerless impotent punks. They cannot do anything to you.
Knowledge is power.
