Palisades Collection, L.L.C. has sent me a letter saying that I owe $370.08 for a verizon account. I have never had verizon in any way. They offered me a payment plan of $50 a month for 6 months to pay off the debt. Otherwise reporting on my credit.

Pallisades Collections

AUTHOR: Keith - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 23, 2012

Yep, after months of calls from this company they seemed to have stopped & now that back at it, calling yesterday & today. Of course I have no plans of  ever returning calls to a collector who doesn't really have a valid debt to collect because, well, they're surely morons to talk to. I did talk to a real person a number of years ago, not sure that he even gave the name of the company - but it had to do with an ATT account. And the moron gave me an address where I never lived, in a funky part of LA. I even contacted ATT and they have no record of my ever having an unpaid bill.

I filed a number of reports with the states Attorney General but that doesn't seem to do anything. Budd Hibbs provided the best advice & that was to send Pallisades a letter demanding that they stop calling. And he provided the contact info.

BTW - be aware that Verizon has a bad habit of farming out unpaid bills for collections on phone #s that have been reassigned to new people.   On more than one occaision I've gotten collections calls for another person who had my current phone # before I did and did not pay on their bill.   Make absolutely sure they are collecting against you and not the phone # itself.

To collect on a debt they must provide proof of the debt - not just ask you to pay for it.  Have they been able to produce any documentation that supposedly shows this is your debt.  Documents showing you signed for it - your SSN, etc.  Is it possible someone has used your SSN or other identification to obtain phone service in your name?    If I were you I would also check your credit report.

Scumbag Debt Collector

Send them a cease communications letter via certified mail - keep copies of all this information. Once you receive that green card back hold onto it.  If they call you or write you again sue the pants off of them.
