Palm Beach Tan IT'S A SMALL WORLD AT PALM BEACH TAN AND CHILDREN ARE RUNNING THE SHOW!! Internet

Whatever happened to the good ole days when the customer was always right and the establishments we frequented were run by literate, kind, caring adults who were actually trained to deal with the public??  

I have been a member of Palm Beach Tan for almost seven years and don't even want to think about all of the money I've spent with them over this period of time, on tanning memberships, upgrades, products, etc... 

The other night, I showed up to tan and when I pulled up, I noticed two teenagers (a boy & a girl), standing in the parking lot, huddled up behind the opened trunk of a parked car.  It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that they were getting high.  The girl (who was quite obviosly stoned out of her mind), turned out to be a store employee.  She ran inside of the store before me and greeted me with a glazed over look in her eye and then put me in a bed where the top wouldn't stay closed.  I tried to call out for her to help, but she never replied, so I figured she must have gone back outside with her boyfriend to destroy a few more non-existant brain cells. 

I fiddled with the thing for a few minutes, trying to get it to work, but to no avail, so I finally had to put my clothes back on and walk up to the lobby.  I stood there calling out, but, once again, no response.  I then opened the front door, which sounded the bell and she came walking up from the back of the store.  I explained to her that the bed she put me in was broken and asked her if she could either fix it or put me in another bed.  Of course, she opted to put me in another bed.  She then told me that my time was going to be cut short since I had already tanned for 4 minutes in the first bed.

"Perhaps, you didn't understand what I just said", I told her.  "THE DOOR WOULDN'T STAY CLOSED"!!  The 4 minutes she was refering to, was the 4 minutes I had spent calling out to her for help and trying to get the door to stay closed and then having to get redressed.  I explained to her that I was not going to forfiet 4 of my tanning minutes (which is 1/3 of the entire time), due to their faulty equipment and that I expected to go the full 12 minutes. 

After only 9 minutes of being in the other bed, the timer went off.  This time I was furious!!  I had to get dressed again and go back up there to inquire why my time had been cut short.  I forgot to mention the fact that earlier she had tried to sell me a $30 bottle of tanning lotion, which I quickly declined.  I told her that I had a $100 bottle of lotion sitting at home that didn't do anything to promote a better tan and couldn't justify spending anymore money on their overpriced and over rated products that don't do what they say.  This girl then had the odassity to call me a liar, because she couldn't find any record of this purchase (or the 15+ other purchases) I had made with them over the past 7 years.  Now, I'm FUMING!!  So, not only was I cheated out of 3 minutes (1/4 of time), but I was also being called a liar???  Needless to say, this did not set well with me at all!!  I told her that I wanted to speak with a manager, but she was the only one there.  She informed me that she was the "assistant manager" (LOL).  YOU"VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME, RIGHT??  I let her know, in no uncertain terms, how displeased I was with her and her complete lack of skill when it comes to dealing with a customer and she asked me to leave and even threatened to call the police on me.  again, YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!  Since when is it against the law to express your dissatisfaction?  I never once threatened her or did anything else that anyone else wouldn't have done under the exact same set of circumstances.

At this point, her little boyfriend (who was also clearly stoned out of his mind), comes walking up from the back of the store and asked if she needed his assistance.  FOR WHAT??  I'm sorry if you're too stoned or inept to deal with a situation in a professional manner, but don't try and make me out to be the one in the wrong.

I finally walked out of the store in complete disbelief as to what had just transpired and as I was walking to my car, the little boy called out to me and said, "It's a good thing I don't work at this store"!!  He then followed this staement by calling me a c*nt, b**ch and a wh*re.  THAT WAS IT!!  I began walking toward him and he sped away in his car a few feet and then stopped and rolled down his window and proceeded to call me the same names, once again.  This time, I literally ran toward his car and was ready to pull him out of it by the head of his hair.  Instead, I got his plate number. which really scared him, because he knew that I knew that he was stoned and had drugs in his trunk.  He then sped away like a little scared baby and I went home and called the corporate office to report this ridiculus incident.

The following day, I received a call from a girl who identified herself as working for the customer service division of Palm Beach Tan and who informed me that she had heard a different story from the girl who was there and I'm not even lying when I tell you that she chose to believe her employee's word over mine.  WHAT??  Let's get one thing perfectly straight... I am the customer!!  Unlike your employee, I have nothing to lose, here, because I am the customer.   I also have nothing to gain, here, because I am the customer!! I don't spend my time conjuring up stories and even if I did, I could not have possibly conjured up something as stupid as this was!! 

All I can say, is that if you're an adult, you might want to find another place to give your business to; a place that might actually employ professionals, who are equipped to deal with any problems that may arise and a place that will value your business and treat you with the respect that you deserve.  This place IS NOT Palm Beach Tan!!
