i sure wished somebody had written about this co. on this web site.after going thru there so called orientation i left.i thought this was going to be a good co. being small and all.Boy what a let down.ill start at the begining;the motel/inn that they have u in, didnt seem bad,but was frequented by prostitutes;theres a bar in the inn w/ a resaraunt.the company gives u a meal ticket each is($5) but that gets taken out of your 1st check.every meal ticket u use.they do give a free lunch pizza;an for the 2nd day u order off of a menu from a grease joint. There terminal, well its more like a 1 level bldg on a street corner in a bad part of town.the trucks park on the street,an there shop is 100yrds down the street only 2 bobtails fit in it,everything else is done on the street.the other drivers warn u not to sleep in there dirt lots(you might get shot) The orientation was 2 days the 1st day a lady came in for about 40min, she seemed nice.the rest of the day we did orientation ourselves.they use peoplenet, a cheaper version of cualcom. The 2nd day a diferent lady came in reading over there rules an having us sign the forms, that took 35min.this co. must have people abandon there equipment alot, because 1 of the rules is they take out $50 each wk from your $ untill it totals $400.so if u return the trk your supose to get it back.the other rules are $25 if u dont do a ck call on time/$150 late on a del stuff like that;an if u get written up by DOT for your logs your fired! in may2009 this co. was busted by dot.$30.000.On the 2nd day we were issued our trucks, dam* s**+# what a mess/dirty inside an out the trk was suppose to be an 2007 but it looked like a 2004.Actualy ive driven 2004's in better shape. This company is run by an italian family that has there hands into many bussines in the KC metro. The owner was there on monday walking around, never came into class to say hello im so/n/so welcome abord. The people in the office did'nt seem to have manners,in greating new people(they just didnt give a dam#)They were more imterested in complaining about there problems. Not a good environment. The trailer we did a test drive in had bad breaks,In all: the equipment isnt well maintained. This is a mickey mouse operation, Italian people are also hard to work for(that means you being treated fairly). If you care about your reputation/driving record stay away from these people.

Facts I know of

AUTHOR: Roger - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Hi my name is Roger Wheeler and I was employed here from March 2010 until July 2010, Let me start off by saying I am only commenting on the things I know and can't comment on others experiances here. First I satrted as a solo driver and ended running team with one of the guys in my orientation class. To some degree I do believe there is some truths in what people say about this company;First the motel is NOT the greatest but truthfully it is NOT the worst it has a small resteraunt and a small bar on site you can walk to down town N.KC,MO and find other places to eat and drink, The motel is clean and the rooms are clean you can't expect a 3 star motel from any company when you have the driver turn over rate P.B has but there is alot to be said about why the turn over is like it is we'll get to that in moment. As for the trucks well you can blame that on yourself because drivers don't take care of them they don't clean inside nor do they have them washed while they are in them some drivers live like pigs I started in KW t-600 it had been cleaned but not like when it was new so of course you can always reclean it and should I DID.I turned in the reciepts and got paid back fpor everything so then it was cleaned to my specs. We then got a 2009 Casscadia with only 130,000 miles like new when we picked it up it was filthy the girl had s**t in a bucket several time and left it in there NASTY a*s TRAMP we cleaned it as well. Now moving on as far as the DAC reports I can't say yet because qwe just quit but Joe ( safety Joe) has said he understands how easy people can get false reports and he told me he would'nt do someone like that far as Natille doing them I don't know. They may but again a driver can call hire right and have them investagate there report yes it's unfair but so is life. Now for the dispatchers well Beri she only deals with Tyson loads and yes if you get on her bad side you wont get any besides they only go east with it, Melissa well she can asign you a load but the whole dispatching thing is screwed up noone works together to get people the good miles they need and it all starts with Denise. We got along with everyone there they just need to get organized people get fired they quit because JP gets mad and fires them you can not tell him anything he thinks he right about everything and yes he has made millions but does'nt share the wealth with thise who have made him the money. His kids are great I like them all. Susan yes she will tell you whatever is needed to get you there. They don't take the $ 500.00 truck deposit out of your check IF you stay 6 months they also only take it $50.00 a week now if you don't leave there truck they will take they start up cost back thats fair I think when you spend $ 3,000 a month in just motel bills what should you do . Anyway fellas all I can say is investagate them do your report b4 you agree to come here. I like it really  so I can't say anything negative yet until I get my DAC. Good luck

Palmentere Bros. IS a good company....

AUTHOR: Christine - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, July 18, 2009

I work for Palmentere Bros. Cartage Services Inc. out of Kansas City, MO. I have drove for this company for almost 2 months now. I do know that the "$5" that this person is talking about is if you sue them for your meal at the "hotel" in question, if your (supper or dinner depending on where you were raised and how you say it) evening meal is paid for with them yes it will be taken out of you check. They do this to help driver out if they don't have a lot of money. I personally think this is nice of them. They DO NOT have to do this for the drivers that are coming in.

Yes our "yard" is a 1 level building. Its is big enough for the staff that is employed there. Come on now we are no JB Hunt, Werner, Swift, Schneider, or Prime here. What you think we should have there lady a multi-million dollar compound?!? We a a fairly small company that is laid back in the office. Have you ever heard of FREEDOM OF SPEECH?!?

Yo should be thankful that they do provide you with meals. Some companies do NOT provide you with anything at all and I know this because I have worked for a few in my driving days out here.

The thing that his lady said about prostitutes.... I know that I was there for probably over a week (was waiting to have the truck fixed that I was going in) and not once seen an illusive "prostitutes". Yes, the "inn or hotel" has a bar and a restaurant there. The food isn't bad. I don't do bar so that part I wouldn't know but you shouldn't be going into a bar if you are going to work for somewhere anyways.

OK back to our "terminal". We are about 150-200 truck strong. Yes we do park on the street. Yes our truck shop is 1 1/2 blocks south of the office and yes it fits 2 trucks... OK AGAIN WE ARE NOT A BIG COMPANY. We do not need a 15 bay shop.

I have slept many nights at our yard and if I DID IN FACT get shot I would not be writing this rebuttal.

Yes it is a short orientation and everything is crammed in a short time. They are trying to get drivers out so the can make money... I don't blame them for the $50.00 they take out to put in "hold" if a driver leaves the truck sitting somewhere. The money has to come from somewhere to get that truck back. The driver that leaves it where ever should have to pay to get it back to them.

Yes they were audited by the DOT. Don't know where she come up with this $30,000.00 fine that we got. Did she pull that one out of here butt?!?

If your truck wasn't up to specs they way you should have thought that it should have been cleaned you should have opened your mouth and said something.

For the fact that "this company is run by an Italian family" Yeap they sure are and i think there is nothing wrong with them. They seem pretty cool to me. Talk to they daughters a few times and say hello to them all when i see them and get told hi back. And for Mr. Palmentere not coming in and saying hello to everyone? Do you get Mr. Werner, Mr. Hunt, Mr. Swift, Mr. Schneider, Or the owner of Prime Inc. coming in to say hello I am __________ I would like to welcome you to our company?!? NO HELLO!!!!! I have said hello to Mr. Palmentere the few times that I was at our yard in Downtown Kansas City, MO and he always said hello to me too.

For the road test deal. If you though that the trailer for the road test wasn't a good trailer maybe you should have OPENED YOUR MOUTH and said I don't think that trailer is good may we get a different one?!?

And last but not least: As far as the poster saying Italian people are hard to work for" I haven't had a hard time working for them. They are trying to keep their business going. It is a VERY hard economy right now. Freight is still slow and drivers are wanting more miles. They can only do so much they are HUMAN!!!!

Hope you see y'all over here!!! We don't bite. They are a good company to work for!!!
