Palmetto Marketing Inc rip-off scam dirt bags will not honor cancellation policy Coral Springs Florida

On June 4th, 2003 My wife and I heard our doorbell ring and saw that it was a door to door salesman, so we ignored it. Then about five minutes later we heard pounding on our door and opened it to see Salesman Sean Cubbedge at our door. He went into his little speal about winning a trip to Cancun (you know the one everyone of those a$$holes use). Finally my wife decided to purchase Preschool Playroom for our daughter for $34.00 for what we thought was a two year subscription. We gave Sean a check for $34.00 and he said it would be held for 14 days and that if we wanted to cancel we could do so by sending in the cancellation notice. Well about 10 minutes after he left, I decided to look everything over and saw that for $34.00 we got six issues.

I also read the NOTICE OF CANCELLATION which reads as follows: You may cancel this transaction, without any penalty or obligation, within three business days from the above date. If you cancel, any payments made by you under the contract or sale and any negotiable instrument executed by you will be returned within 10 business days following receipt by the seller of your cancellation notice. To cancel this transaction, mail or deliverr a signed and dated copy of this cancellation notice or any other written notice, or send a telegram to Palmetto Marketing, Inc., 7522 Wiles Rd., Ste. 112 Coral Springs, FL 33067 not later than midnight of ___________.

The next day which would have been June 5th, 2003 I signed the section that reads I hereby cancel this transaction, this 5th of June, 2003.

On June 14th, 2003 I checked my bank account online and saw that the check had cleared the bank, not what Sean had originally told me.

On June 23rd, 2003 I received a postcard that reads as follows: Dear Subscriber, Thank you for writing concerning your order. We have carefully reviewed your correspondence and in reference to your cancellation request, cancellations must be made in writing and postmarked within three business days after the date of sale as stated on your receipt. Because your request is not postmarked within this time period we regret that we cannot cancel your order. Your order is being processed at this time and you can expect delivery of your magazince within 90 to 120 days.

This sent me into a rage. I called Palmetto Marketing Inc, at (954) 341-8135 and got the run around from two customer service representatives. I told them both that on the receipt that it does not state postmarked date. They continued to treat me like an idiot, so I asked to speak with a manager and ended up speaking with Tessie or Jessica she would not repeat it. She advised me that what the notice of cancellation says DOESN'T MATTER....I asked her who was her boss and she said she is the office manager and no one was above her. I said someone has to be above you and she said Mr. V Pitts. I asked for his voicemail, secretary, or phone number. She wouldn't give it to me and then hung up on me.
