We "googled" the internet to find a wholesaler of parachute cord for making survival bracelets.  We own a small retail store and have had numerous requests to carry "paracord" for bracelets.

We found a company called "Wholesale Parachute Cord" which had good color choices and good prices so we placed our first order.  We had to order a minimum of five of the 1000-foot spools to qualify for "wholesale" which was no problem.  We ordered  10 for our first order but were not told that 4 were back ordered.  The 6 arrived quickly and we started selling them....it was a hit and we sold it like crazy!  After numerous calls and emails regarding our back ordered spools, we finally decided to order other colors that were in stock.  When doing this, we found that 3 of our colors were actually in stock but they were not shipped.

We ordered 8 spools and they were all shipped promptly.  When they arrived, they were not all the same size spools....some were as much as 2 pounds lighter than others.  We immediately called the company and was put on the phone with the Manager.  After we told him our spools were not all the same size, I asked him what the spools were supposed to weigh.  He told me different colors weighed differently.  What?  Did he think I fell off the cabbage truck!?!  I told him...."I don't think so."  I asked him if he was the Manager or the Owner of the company and he told me he was the owner.  I asked him his name and he told me "John".  I asked for his last name and he said something like "Abbassi" and he said, "Do you want my social security number, too?"  I said, "Ok...sure."  He said, "Then I tell you....go to He**!"  (He had a foreign accent...not that that is a bad thing....just to identify his voice if you want to call.)

I was appalled.  I didn't know what to say at first.  Then I asked if this was the way they talked to all their customers who had a problem with a shipment.  He said I was the only person ever to call regarding a shipment.  (I now know that is a lie, b/c the BBB in Charlotte, NC has 17 registered complaints...which I failed to check before placing my first order.)

Anyway, he agreed to send me a "Return Authorization Number" for me to return the entire 8 spools and he would credit my business credit card along with the original shipping cost.  He then proceeded to tell me to send everything back and to NEVER call his business again....EVER!  At this point, I decided to hang up b/c he became very rude and shouting.

So, even though the product appeared to be a good quality, the company owner or manager or whomever "John" is, lacks in customer service skills.  I suppose his business is doing so well, that he does not care if he loses me as a customer.

I personally think he was rolling off 100-300 feet from some of the spools and selling them as full 1000-foot spools.  Since his company also sells 100-300 feet packages of this same paracord, he was probably selling the same 100-300 feet twice, if you know what I mean.  I think this company is one to be watched very carefully if anyone thinks about doing business with them.

They operate about 15 different military-type businesses with different websites for each of them, but they all have the same fax and phone number.  I guess this is a case of "BUYER BEWARE."

I have long ago put this whole unpleasant experience behind me but since reading your "rebuttal" I thought I'd add this short response.

I did not feel a need to actually roll off the supposed 1000 feet of paracord and measure it because it was too obvious there was something major wrong.  One spool would weigh 5 or 6 pounds and another spool would weigh only 2-1/2 to 3 pounds.  That's too much of a difference in weight to think it's the mere size of the paracord making the visual difference.

Instead of measuring it out, inch by inch, I just picked up the phone and asked the owner what the normal spool was supposed to weigh.  He became furious at my question and asked me to put everything back in the box and ship it back.  He acted as though it was a personal insult for me to ask him this question in the first place.  I don't have room in my life to deal with incompetence like this in the workplace, thus I marked them off as anyone I would do business with or recommend for paracord supplies.

I would first like to say that the behavior of the Manager "John" is unacceptable in any aspect of the business world and this rebuttal is not an attempt to excuse his behavior.

Now with that being said I would like to suggest to the person filing this report that if a true ripoff was thought to have occured did they in fact take one of the lesser spools and measure the amount of cord. I have been using several different types and colors of paracord over the past year making bracelets and other crafts and I have discovered that the outer sleeve of the paracord varies with different purchases ive made. some are thinner and stiffer and some are thicker and looser.

This is not an attempt to disprove your claim I to discovered the paracord wholesale site thru google and was considering making a purchase when I discovered your report. I just feel as though more evidence should be gathered such as measuring the length of cord before it is determined this company is a ripoff.
