I was just informed Parago cannot honor my GE Profile rebate, which was long overdue, because their GE Profile promotion had lapsed. I am so frustrated with this company.
The facts are: I purchased a GE Profile Washer and Dryer ($1100) from Home Depot. Two rebates were offered: one for Home Depot (free delivery) and one from General Electric ($100 off with proof of purchase). I submitted my GE Profile rebate coupon correctly and in the proper time window. I followed the instructions for both rebates. The Home Depot rebate arrived on time and in full. I received an email notification from GE's rebate redemption company, Parago, that they had received my rebate foms, everything was in order, and my rebate was being processed.
No payment arrived. My husband called with our information and was then informed we were mistaken and that we had never submitted the rebate form. They could not locate our information and the rebate was not available.
I finally found the email receipt from Parago but was then informed that the promotion has passed and I was no longer eligible to receive payment. Mind you, I sent in my materials well before the window of opportunity had passed. I also received notification from Parago that my rebate was in good standing and being processed. But when we failed to receive the rebate after waiting and waiting and waiting...we were told we never submitted it in the first place!
The $100 is relatively trivial. However, it did influence our decision to buy the GE set in the first place. It certainly has influenced my opinion of GE. I will NEVER buy another GE product. Furthermore, Parago should be investigated for questionable business practices. I know they have been profiled for such practices (just look them up in Wikipedia)...and I have experienced this firsthand.
