Paramount is a company that wont let you cancel your gym memberships. I have tried many times and they just keep coming up with new excuses to screw me. I dont really care about he 27 dollars a month. Its the fact that I have to waste time to try to cancel the memership. Do not sign up for gym memerships if Paramount runs the billing. They will lie to you multiple times claiming that you have not done everything that you were supposed to. I cant tell you how many times I have tried to cancel this worthless membership(I have not lived in utah for a year and the thing expired 4 months ago). Beware consumers, they will screw you like 90% of utah companies.

Service is less than desirable but this is what I did

AUTHOR: AtlGa - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 04, 2011

I agree, Paramount Acceptance is lacking in the service department and I wouldn't do business with any company that uses them, I dealt with ABC Financial which does the same and they are very responsive.

Anyways, I had a membership with Workout Anytime, I cancelled the membership by following the the contract to a T. It says certified letter sent to their business location 30 days before the billing which I did. I received the return slip from the USPS that they received it. I asked to confirm the cancellation, never heard back.

I sent 2 follow up emails to their customer care, never received any response back confirming the cancellation. the online account still showed me as an active member and I was to be billed again.

I sent the cancellation letter, with a copy of my contract where the cancellation policy was outlined, I highlighted it and stapled it to the letter. Then in my 3rd follow up, I stated that I received the return slip and that they are not to bill me, if I would see a charge I would take  the same paperwork to my bank and report it as an unauthorized charge and to process it as a charge back (Banks look at charge backs as a negative and it charges similar to a bounced check to the companies).

They never charged me again but yet I still have not received a confirmation. What bothers me is that they still have my credit card and info on record which should be removed once I cancel. I would never do business with a company that can't respond to consumer request especially when it comes to cancellations and refunds. They are very prompt in billing and charging. its just shady.

On another note the collection agency is the same as the billing company.

Helpful Solutions to Paramount Acceptance Gym Memberships

This may help out the consumers with the afforementioned "Golds Gym" memberships handled by Paramount Acceptance, we had a similar problem with them in trying to cancel the membership, we called and sent letters abiding by the contract, but to no avail the charges kept coming out of our account. so we sent a Certified Letter with a signature card so we would have a record of who signed for it if it came to legal action.

The letter came back as "Return to sender not deliverable as addressed unable to forward" we addressed it to the address on the bottom of the contract like it stated and followed the cancellation policy to the letter.

We later found out that they had moved up the street a few blocks and never notified its members and we tried in vain to still cancel, we even showed them the returned letter and they did not care, they said it was invalid and we'd have to send a new letter to the new address, we said we would see them in court.. and never heard from them again.

After 4 months we recieved a collection notice from Paramount Acceptance. So we proceded to call them and explain to them what we did, they said the usual things like we never were notified by Golds Gym about any cancellation, when in fact we had our bank fax the information to them and the gym. because i had a certified letter showing we tried to cancel, we were able to get out of any further collection proceedings and have any and all negative marks removed from our credit reports as they did not want to go to court and have to pay us a very large sum of money we were going to seek in damages..

So the bottom line is people, Send ALL cancellation notices VIA CERTIFIED MAIL with a signature card so you have a record of when it was delivered and who signed for it. Believe me it will save you alot of headaches, your certified mail is your ammunition in court if it should come to that...

They Are Awful

AUTHOR: Travis - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 15, 2007

For starters i am disabled. I had a Golds Gym membership and Paramont provided the billing. Paramont charged me a penalty fee of $25 without first notifying me by mail so that i could at least have a chance to correct my bank card issue.

I called paramont and protested but they didnt care...Long ago this company used to send thier customers monthly billing statements in the mail, what ever happened to those days? That whole experience has left me with a bad taste for this company and Golds Gym and i have vowed never to give them another dime of my money!
