If you hear any media advertisements about Pars Cars and how much of a deal you can get from them turn the station. This dealership run radio ads about them guaranteeing 14.9% interest rate for those that have credit issues. The actual rate is 14.99% and it is guaranteed but what they fail to disclose for obvious reasons is that they sell lemons. They buy these cars from auctions as is and sell them as is. When unknowing customers purchase these vechicles they are stuck with the car and the repairs. I purchased a car from them a month ago. First thing that should have been a red flag was the amount of time it took for them to approve the application. My husband and I were at the dealership for five hours. The disorganized saleman that was helping us was busy trying to help any other customer as they came in so he is working our deal along with maybe three or four other customers. I guess he was trying to win the "salesman of the month award" or just that he was so broke he NEEDS to make the commission on all the deals. I have no problem with someone trying to make money but don't deprive your customer service skills in the process but I will digress on that matter. So we finally got what we were approved for and some other salesperson comes along with a list of vehicles in the price range. By this time I was so heated for the long wait I was not about to deal with anymore b.s. so I told the salesperson just give me the list and let me take a look at what was on there instead of him reading everything. I looked over the list and see a bunch of cars that I had no interest in. I was not that desperate to buy another car after all we rode up in there with a Lexus. We just wanted a newer car because our Lexus took premium gas only and that expense was getting too steep along with some other things that were beginning to happen. So I am ready to walk out the dealership and my husband tell the finance manager or sales manager who ever he was that we didn't want any of the vehicles they had on the list. I guess he really didnt want to lose the sale he asked if there was another car that we would be interested in. I mentioned another option that we had seen prior to meeting with our salesman. The manager then says well that car is not in the range of your approval amount but I will work the numbers out. I am like okay whatever. Next step was the test drive. My husband test drove it and told me it was a smooth ride and he didn't see anything that would be a problem. So before I made any hasty moves I say that I want to test drive it myself just to make sure its a comfortable ride for me. The car did not have much gas in it so by the time we got back from the 1st test drive it was done. I told them that if they wanted to make this sale that they needed to get some more gas in it so that I can do my test drive. Red flag #2 it took them a good 20-25 minutes just to go up the street less than a half mile to the gas station to bring the gas back. Needless to say got the gas and I test drove the car for myself and I agreed with my husband it was a nice ride and it was acceptable to my standards. We go and complete the rest of the paperwork. They were going to let us drive the car off the lot but I said no when its detailed then I will pick it up. They suggested that we take it with us and bring it back the next business day which would have been a Monday since we were there on a Saturday I looked at the saleman and looked at my husband and said you must be out of your rabbit a** mind to think we are going to drive all the way from Gwinnett County to come back to Clayton County just for a detail. Nope thats not going to happen. The car stayed. Fast foward to Monday. Time to put up the car. Red flag #3 Our salesman tells us that the car was overheating and it had to be sent to an independent repair shop because the repairman for the dealership was off. We were like why couldn't y'all give us a call and let us know what was going on so that we didn't waste gas coming down here. They were semi apologetic but don't think they were sincere about the whole thing. The next day they tell us that the car has been fixed and we can come and pick it up. Three days after having the car it starts overheating once again. My husband calls them back and tell them what is going on. They tell us that we have to bring the car back to them. We are a little tight on cash at this moment but payday was in a couple days. So we tell them we will bring it down then. The very next day I am driving to work and the car overheats and shut off. I had to leave the car on the side of the road and call a co-worker to come and get me and bring me to work. I get to work and I immediately call the service manager. I really wanted to cuss and scream and yell and everything else but at this point I am like what is that going to accomplish. We signed the paperwork. Car sold "as is" no warranty = screwed. I tell the service manager that the car is has shut off and I am not sure if it can be started again. The manager then tells me that I need to have the car towed to them. They will not be responsible for the towing but they will fix whatever is wrong with it. She tells me that I can call my insurance company and have them tow it and then I can get reimbursed from my insurance company. I am looking at the phone like these people must be smoking some kind of new and improved crack. Even if I did have my insurance company reimburse me the total towing fee would exceed the miles covered. I say the car is all the way in North Fulton County and you are telling me to have this car towed all the way to Clayton County and you all are NOT going to pay for anything. I kindly said let me call my husband and I hung up the phone. I talk the matter over with my husband and pretty much either way we looked at it we were screwed. We ended up paying for the repairs. Total cost $723.86. The water pump and gaskets had to be replaced. That was about two and a half weeks ago. The car is starting to overheat once again. At this point we have no idea of what to do now. Had we known this would have been such a headache we would have just taken the downpayment we put down and put it into the Lexus to fix everything that needed to be done. We would have had to suffer through the gas shortage but at least we would've had a reliable working car. Long story told but just be informed not to have no dealings with this dealership at any cost. I found out a co-worker experience the same thing when he bought his car from them. He hadn't had the car a whole year and ended up spending close to two grand for repairs. These people need to be reported to the Consumer Affairs Department, The BBB and every other entity that is an advocate for consumers. They should not be allowed to stay in business and mark up their profits at 150% or more for cars that need serious repairs and not willing to work with the consumer to remedy the problem. I would not mind signing a petition against and have them exposed as the scam artist they are.
