I hate to do this, I really do, I want to support small & family owned businesses... My boyfriend went in and bought two really nice button down collared shirts. They opened one up for him (there's very tasteful plastic wrap on each individual shirt) and had him try it on. He purchased 3 shirts and spent about $200. Great deal. HOWEVER... None of the shirts ended up working for the event that we bought them for. We didn't rip any of the tags off, none of the shirts were worn, but one did not have the original plastic trash bag wrapped around it. I went to return two of the shirts alone, without my boyfriend, and was treated like the helpless, uneducated woman that I was sized up to be. Even though it was not stated on their posted return policy at the register, or on the receipt, they told me that they could not accept one of the shirts because the plastic wrap was not on it. Mind you, they took the plastic wrap off AT THE STORE when my boyfriend originally bought the shirt. I politely asked if we could find a compromise, but the men in the store talked down to me as though I was stupid, and only offered 50% of the purchase price back to me because, "look at it, would you buy a shirt like this?" I decided to leave and have my boyfriend try and return the shirt himself. Look, here's the deal, I understand that this is a business, but the shirt was worth $60. Was arguing with a customer out on the sales floor while other patrons were shopping really worth $60? Especially in December, evey retail store's busiest and most profitable month! This store only gave us 50% of the cost of the shirt back, but gets to sell it twice at full price. This tells me so much more about the attitude of customer service of this establishment, and I just cannot support a shady, cheap business during this time of recession! Potential male shoppers of Paul Wagners in Roseville, please, in the name of respect for your mother, sisters, wife, and daughters, please do not support this establishment of big and tall misogyny.

You missed a point

AUTHOR: TEB - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, February 06, 2017

I have been a customer of this store since I moved to the area two years ago.

Sorry this woman had a bad experience. In reading her comments, I am confused that she is alleging she bought three shirts for an event.  Apparently the event would require several costume changes or something.  Then someone had a style/fasion crisis.  Odd.

Also, she includes details about how she feels she was treated, but we have no idea how she approached the situation or what her attitude was. But I could guess.

I think these guys are great! I found this place after wasting days and days trying to find dress shirts for work at all the other big named stores in town - where I rarely find anything that fits and if I do, I can't afford it...like $100+ for a shirt. Not on my salary!  They even had dress shoes that fit my freakishly wide EEEE feet! Almost impossible to find.

I found great selection, service and reasonable pricing.  The people in this store have always treated me with respect and courtesy. This family owned business has been operating for something like 107 years!!  Go in the back and check out some of the plaque memorabilia.  The other thing that is not mentioned is this - total Old School: this store will do Custom Tailoring FOR FREE on clothes you buy there! Who does that?

I only wish that they stayed open a little later. Since they are a ways down the road, it is very hard to get there in traffic after work, so weekends it is. But that is my problem, not theirs!

Re:Wrong complaint

I came across this complaint as I was looking for a store to purchase clothing for my husband and wanted to check complaints and reviews. Upon reading this I had to comment and just say that if your boyfriend tried on the shirt before the purchase you have absolutely NO REASON to be complaining. The fact that for some other reason it was not workable for your specified event is no reason for a return. You were satisfied with fitting and inspection at the time of purchase. This complaint is ridiculous. Now if you have some issue with returning the two other shirts, which are still packaged, I have no clue, but still give me a break. This is beyond immature. I seriously laughed, as did everyone I read your (as well as your boyfriend's) rebuttal to. I certainly hope you did not slander this poor place of business further with this nonsense. I have no clue about their products or other business practices, but as far as this goes I cannot take this complaint at all seriously.

Re: WRONG!!!

Guessing by the tone of the rebuttal, it is obviously from the owner...it was posted within minutes of the report and the author took personal offense to the initial report.

I was the one that bought the shirt, didn't wear it, and needed it returned...however since Paul Wagners kept the bag that it came in, they refused to refund my money regardless of the stated return policy.  They treated my girlfriend so poorly, they are lucky that I am a peaceful man.

I received $32 of the $64 that I initially paid...so here is what we are doing with the money...I dontated it to charity.  I dont need it, but I will be darned if someone will steal it from me this way.  After the holidays, we will be spending 2 hours per weekend standing in front of the store with signs, informing others of their business practices...with the intent of costing them 10x what they stole from me.  It's Roseville...its not like there is a lot to do anyways so a few hours on a Saturday defending neighbors' money from these thieves is time and energy well spent.  Don't bother offering me the difference to shut us up...like I said...I dont need the money.

HOW do YOU feel ABOUT that..Mr. STORE OWNER?!  YOU felt it was YOUR right to STEAL from ME...so I will gladly LET everyone KNOW how YOU do "business".  Merry Christmas...kind "sir".  Man up, stop attacking people, don't steal, and improve your customer service and maybe people won't refer to your store as a RIP OFF!

WRONG!!!

AUTHOR: Tyg - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, December 19, 2015

Sorry to say this but think about it. YOU WILL NOT buy opened product. Be it a shirt or an alarm clock. YOU want it perfectly sealed. So THEY want a return to be perfectly sealed so they CAN sell it. I don't care if THEY opened the plastic in the store, the RETURN has to be "LIKE NEW". THEY are NOT walmart that can take back and repackage a item. The items come to them SEALED in that plastic. Its a mark of YOUR intelligence actually. YOU seem to think that THEY should eat the FULL cost of that item because YOU THINK you deserve a refund. Get over it because there is NO LAW that directly states that YOU should get ANY refund. Refunds are done as a courtesy. If YOU cant do your part and return the item in "LIKE NEW" condition then don't expect a refund!!! Its a business that is in business to MAKE MONEY!!!! You know so that ppl can PAY their bills. It REALLY sickens me to see yet another American Consumer acting like a child because THEY didn't get their way. WHY you would expect to get a FULL refund on products that are opened and used is beyond me. WHY do YOU think YOU deserve one?? THEY did their part and sold YOU the shirts, beyond that there is NO expectation any longer of being able to bring in UNSELLABLE products and get a full refund. They cant stay in business PANDERING to children who cant take responsibility for their purchases. There was a time when if your purchased the wrong item it was ok to bring it back. NOW ppl EXACTLY LIKE YOU seem to think that they can return ANYTHING in ANY condition and expect to get a FULL REFUND!!!! More then likely the shirt WAS worn more then just trying it on. if YOU had to feed your family based solely on the FACT that female customers feel its ok to return USED products, well your family would STARVE!!!! Add on to it the TOTAL self entitlement nature of the American Consumer and YOU can see why businesses are failing. Its NOT about customer service when you are dealing with a scammer. THAT is what YOU are.
