I had a recent experience with Theft through my Pay Pal account, so I thought I would share this to the rest of the users here, so they Dont fall for the same SCAM!
I am an EBay seller/user. I sold an item (A Car Drivers window,large item)
The winning Bidder was EBay user online_selling_business
I made a shipping mistake and sent him the wrong window. Needless to say He was very Upset. I didnt blame him But I told him to return the item to me and I will refund his money, Even though the auction states NO RETURNS. It was my mistake and I was going to fix it because Thats the Type of Seller I am. HONEST!
Well He responded to me that he wanted me to send him Money to return it. I said, NO. WHat store gives you money BEFORE you return their item? I said again. Send me the Item back and I will refund you in Full. He said NO and proceeded to file with Pay Pal a dispute.
We each said the same thing in the dipute. Finnally Pay Pal gave him 15 days to return the item other wise it would be closed. The buyer ONLY has to supply Pay Pal with the tracking number, then When the shipping company states it was returned Pay Pal Automatically REFUNDS the Buyer!
So That's what He did. He grab a small box packed it with his LOCAL Newspaper for shipping, Paid $1.95 for postage and gave PayPal the tracking number.
Heres the problem. This Buyer sent me a Small EMPTY Box! He Did NOT return the item that was sold to him. He instead Kept it and scammed his refund back from PayPal.
I emailed Pay Pal twice with this information Before they refunded this buyer, but they gave him the money anyway, NOW He has the Item AND the money back. I think that is called STEALING. Isnt It ?? Anyways, Now Pay Pal is trying to wash there hands from it all and wants me to go file a police report with my Local authorities. All the while This THIEF "online_selling_business" Gets away with Breaking the LAW! And If he did it once,he'll do it again.
So Becareful Sellers who Use PayPal. This little "Loop hole" Pay Pal has with its dispute refund system can be taken advantage of By DisHONEST People!
Pay Pal Needs to Contact the Seller FIRST Before ANY refund is given. Period! There existing Refund system is too easy for the criminally IMPAIRED!

One thing you could have done was pay for the shipping for him to return it. If I received the wrong item I certainly would not want to be paying shipping to return the item that was wrong in the first place.
On the other hand it was pretty shady for him to decept Paypal with that kind of loophole as well.

The window sold for $29.76 plus $36.90 shipping. You said "I made a shipping mistake and sent him the wrong window. Needless to say He was very Upset. I didnt blame him But I told him to return the item to me and I will refund his money". Did you make it clear to him you would also pay for return shipping?
It would make very little sense for you to pay $30 or so to have the window shipped back. The logical thing for you to do would be to refund the money and tell him to throw the window away since return shipping would be approximately what the window would sell for. So, if I were the buyer, I would suspect you were planning to rip me off at least for the return shipping. I certainly wouldn't want to be out $30 or so for your mistake. But I may be wrong. Did you offer to pay for return shipping??
