I lost my job July 19th  I have been unemployed for over a month with no money coming in. So I decided to sell some stuff on ebay that just sits around in my apartment. I sold six items. they paid through paypal

Paypal will not give me my money until I use ebay's shipping label which cost extra money. I do not have the money to ship the products that I sold because paypal will not let me have the money that I made with my auctions I have no money
Do not use paypal and do not use ebay they will not give you the money you made on your auctions unless you use ebay's shipping label which cost extra money.

Actually, you are dead wrong! Ebay/Paypal shipping DOES NOT cost more!

AUTHOR: Southern Chemical and Equipment LLC - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 11, 2011

I don't know where you got the idea that shipping via Ebay / Paypal costs more, but you are dead wrong.

If your Ebay or Paypal account is new that alone will restrict what you can do with your money, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the method of shipping.

As a matter of fact, you get discounted rates when you prepare your shipping labels online, rather than going to the post office. Ebay / Paypal negotiates even further discounts as well.

You should at least have the facts right before spouting jibberish.

eBay and Paypal is a big scam

AUTHOR: GiveItARest - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, October 10, 2011

I can't say that I've had problems with the shipping labels part but I've had other problems with eBay and Paypal.  The way it's set up right now eBay is totally for the Buyer.  The Buyer can basically get away with anything.  All they have to do is say that they either didn't get the item or that something was wrong with it and waaaahlaaaa!!!!!!!  The get their money back and yank it right out of your checking account.

I sold an item to a buyer.  He whined and moaned about how it didn't work.  When I got it back, he had stolen half of the parts out of it and switched it for other used and broken parts then just called eBay to file a complaint.  I was told I had, I believe, 7 days to respond.  I caught the complaint after 5 days, and sent an email explaining what the buyer had done.  Within an hour from my email, I got a response from eBay saying that they had made a decision in the buyer's favor.

You to be able to leave negative feedback for buyers but because they didn't want sellers leaving negative feedback just for retaliatory purposes, you can only leave a buyer POSITIVE feedback or none at all.

I would seriously encourage to people to leave negative feedback for people on ROR.  ROR doesn't stop you from making a legitimate complaint against a con-artist buyer.  I would recommend this path to anyone that has problems with a buyer, eBay or Paypal.  Plus, the fees that Paypal now charges is absolutely ridiculous.

Ebay/Paypal IS a ripoff!

AUTHOR: Geina - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Double-dipping on fees at its worst.  Ebay charges fees, and then, they practically force you to use Paypal, which also charges fees. They are the same company.  They seem like they're trying to muscle out the small sellers, in favor of the overseas junk dealers who list thousands of items.  Sellers really get screwed, too, not being able to leave negative feedback for unscrupulous buyers. I stopped selling on Ebay years ago, and I recently stopped buying there, too! It is not worth the headaches and aggravation. Sellers' shipping fees have gone so high, because sellers are trying to break even from all the d**n fees Ebay and Paypal charge!  It's too bad there isn't a viable alternative for selling collectible items.

Rebuttal

AUTHOR: Joseph Brown - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 06, 2011

Randy, if I sounded rude you must be new here. There are folks who would eat her lunch hanging out here.
I sold a business because I was tired of customers who thought they should get special treatment. You can't give everybody everything they ask for.
The young woman lives in an apartment. How does she pay rent? I'm assuming she eats 2 or 3 meals a day. Who pays for her groceries? She has money coming in from somewhere so why doesn't she use a couple of bucks to ship her stuff?
My daughter has a small home business and uses E-bay and Paypal almost exclusively with no problems. At times, being a divorced mother she came up short on shipping fees and I loaned it to her. But that's what parents do. If my harshness offended you, I'm not sorry.

Common Practice

AUTHOR: J.B. - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, September 04, 2011

Just an FYI, this is a common practice of any payment processor.  Once you've built up a decent amount of feedback/transactions between ebay/paypal, they will remove these holds from your account.  How would I know this?

Well, aside from reading the user agreement, I've been through this process myself.  And, yes it certainly is frustrating at first; however if you look at this from the business side of things this makes perfect sense.  You're fairly new/new to selling with paypal/ebay.  They know very little about you, your selling habits and what you're up too.  They're liable for any sort of fraudulent payments sent and for people who rip other users off.  Also, you do not have to use an eBay shipping label.  They just want tracking information for the item, which is provided for free using the ebay shipping (its actually cheaper using it...but no need to argue that).

Ship your items quickly, the funds will be released quickly as well.  Build up the feedback and move on.  It's a great service which everyone uses.

....what?

AUTHOR: Joseph Brown - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, September 02, 2011

Shel, exactly what is the rip off? You don't want to play by the rules and you think Paypal is a rip off? Gimme a break. Borrow the money, ship your stuff and stop whining that a company won't bow and scrape to you!
