So... This is really unfortuante and I hope no one else falls for their scams.. but I signed up with Penn Foster a couple years ago, under the impression that I could cancel within a time frame of 30 days no charge.  It seemed like a viable option for school, and something that would coninside with my work schedule. The 30 day gurantee, well that claim is COMPLETELY FALSE! I decided to change schools, and go with something I knew would be legitament since I was weary about online schooling. As soon as I recieved the "books", (which were complete sorry excuses for being instructional or informational at best) for the program I realized this would be of absolutely no benefit to me learning anything and my future career or education I wanted to cancel. So, I called the school up and asked them to withdraw me and then they were like "Okay, well you owe us 1200 dollars and so many cents." I was at a loss for words! How could I owe them so much money? I was under the impression of a 30 day money back gurantee. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS SCHOOL! The place is a diploma mill, the education is a joke and laughable for most employers, and most importantly don't waste or lose out on a fortune of your hard earned money. I unfortunately learned this the hard way, and I am still paying for it to this day. It's not worth it.

Ive had the same issue myself.

AUTHOR: tinhoss - (United States of America)

It happened to me also but, I was able to find the email address to the chief person in charge of the so called school Connie D. and emailed her about not only my issue with there billing and collection procedures.

I had an account that went into default after i cancelled my enrollment over nine (9) years ago and it is still showing up on my credit report as open after the 7 year limit.
According to the statute law for Pennsylvania and Arizona also that reads as follows and i quote,

"Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) there are statutes that dictate what is and what is not allowed on a person's credit report.  For example, a defaulted debt is only allowed to stay on your credit history for seven (7) years.  That is seven years from the date of the first day of default. After the seven years is over, the debt should be removed."

So, Not only is Penn Foster scam artists.
There also breaking the law with how they conduct there business and are engaging in fraudulent practices and fraud it self.
They are also breaking the law in another way and changing the students enrollment date to a later date after the 7 year limit has ended (Without valid proof that you actually enrolled at that time mind you).
They tried pulling that crap on me but, I still have all the proof to prove when i enrolled and when i cancelled and proof that they are engaging in fraud by changing my enrollment date to years after i cancelled my enrollment.
