Pennco Tech Nasty Individual to all who enroll in the programs , School Director Robert Emme Blackwood, New Jersey

 You don't seem to be well-versed in the Federal Financial Aid processes.  When your son filed his FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), he should have recieved an email explaining what he is eligible for in loans or grants.  No school could take out loan or grant money without the student signing an MPN through the Federal government.  As your son almost signed a contract with erasable pen, maybe he needs to be informed of what signing a contract means and how it is enforced.  As someone who recieved a decent grade in contract law in school, I can assure you that if he is 18, it is up to him to determine which contracts he will and will not sign and abide by.  No contract should ever be signed in erasable pen, and in fact, it may be found to be uneforceable (most likely not worth the lawsuit, but possible).  Bottom line, it sounds like your adult son should be asking the questions and be somewhat competent if he is planning on continuing his education at a college level.  If your son is concerned with his financial aid, he would have to call the school or the Department of Education to determine his loan status. I doubt someone that works in another office at the school would be privy to his Financial records.  

 Have you contacted the director of the school to explain your concerns?  It seems like you were calling someone who was not answering (could it be possible that they are no longer with the school? or it may be possible you are not on the release so that the school can not share specific information with you?).  

 I have no idea whether your son was enrolled or not. You would probably want to ask that question to the registrar of the school.  

 As with many of the comments on this site, I suggest others do research into how financial aid works and what information is allowed to be shared to someone besides the student.  

My son wants to enroll in Pennco, thank god I was with him because she gave him an eraseable pen to sign the contracts. We were supposed to hear back within 3 days aboutvthebloans and grants and we are not hearing anything. Also, they told him he had to check the box on the contract that stated any money from the grants he didn't use, he was agreeing to let the school keep. I noticed this, and check the appropriate box to not allow that. I also made her make copies of everything before we left, so it couldn't be changed with the eraseable ink. Now he applied for the loans and the grants, we don't know if he was approved, we were given a list of tools he needs to have and a large sum to have for books, but we are afraid to put money out for them because we are not getting any information from the school and don't know if he is actually enrolled or not. Then we read the book from pennco and this class he is supposed to take is the only one that does not state it is accredited, but we were told differently. The two people we have dealt with so far have been dishonest. Some are willing to go as far as saying they will even give him rides to and from school, just to "sell him" but yet they won't even return our calls or help him finish enrolling.vi am afraid they applied for the loans and he is gonna be stuck paying for them and they are not going to put him in at all. They are building him up, and pulling the rug out from under him at the same time. He is going to this school because I am seriously I'll, and we have lost everything we owned, home family business.. .everything because I am so I'll, and now permanently disabled, and he is trying to get an education to help care for me and his sister and my granddaughter. My life sustaining medication alone is over $11,000.00 a month, and he just wants to be able to buy me a wheel chair and help to get a car so we can get help to doctors and stuff. We had to sell our cars for food and medicine, so for these people to use us this way, is scarey. We are really going out on a limb and using everything we possibly can to help him get ahead in life, and our family's life is at stake here, and I feel like he is being preyed on because of the dire need we have. I am scared and we don't know where to go to get him where he needs to be to get ahead. Can you please contact me with more info about your experience with pennco, so I know more before I continue with this school for him, and if they are trying to fool him, who do I go to, is there an agency I can go to to tell about what they are trying to do to us and everyone else?

 The School Director had every reason to give you a hard time. Pennco Tech doesn't just treat you as a student but also as if you were an employee. So you need to be there on-time all the time as if it were a real job. (They are acclimating you to the real world) It is irrelevant that some staff may not have HS Diploma or Degree, just as long as the instructors are qualified to teach the curriculum for which you are attending. What you did by contacting a HS to determine if someone had a HS Diploma or not under false pretences is illegal, along with bordering on stalking. This is a private Tech school, so it does not need to be ran like a college or HS for that matter. All that matters is that you are be provided with the education promised. The director was only yelling at you because he cared. He could of said "Hell with it, if he cant be here on time everyday and his attendance falls behind...Financial Aid will be cut and he will be dropped from the program." The school also sets guidlines for everyone to follow. 1. Be on time 2. Learn 3. Have proper Attire 4. Be sure to have all tools by day 30 from the list that was provided for you. You read and acknowledged all these rules prior to starting school. Your transportation problems should have been resolved prior to attending school. My Wife starts work everyday at 6am, I am required to be in school at 7:30am everyday, & my children start school at 8:15am everyday. See my dilemma? I had to find an arrangement that worked to have my children at school every morning so that my wife and myself could be where we needed to be with the kids being to school on time. So instead of blaming the school for your problems, look at yourself first! Implement this philosophy into your everday life "If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail!"....
