My father had an ARM loan with Country Wide Mortgage. At the end of his loan his house payment shot up three hundred dollars. He is on a fixed income and we knew he could not afford this increase. We called Country Wide and told them two months ahead of time that he could not afford the new payment. Country Wide stated they could not modify his loan because he was not behind and had never missed a payment. Thinking that we spoke to someone who just started we called several more times, only to get the same response.

I went on internet looking for a way to help my father keep his home. I found People's First Financial. I called and spoke to a representative that was very convincing. I had my father call and speak with Sharon Brown as well. She email us the paperwork and instructed us to wire her $2495.00. We did so the following Monday. Keep in mind my father was not behind on his payments at this time. Sharon instructed my father to not pay anymore payments because he had to be atleast 60 days behind before they could negotiate his loan with Country Wide.

Mean while my father is flipping out because he can't get them to return his calls. Sharon Brown continued to contradict herself and we never knew what to believe. Then 65 days into this nightmare, my father receives a letter from Country Wide. The letter is a modification to his loan. We called Sharon and informed her of the letter. She stated at this time that the letter was a result of their hard work in modifying his loan. However it was only a modification for five years. Not the 30 year fixed rate she had earlier promised. She had also promised an interest rate reduction of 6%. This modification was far from that.

We continued to call People's First Financial and spoke to several different people after hundreds of calls trying to reach someone. We spoke to a gentleman named Hing and then Marcell. They both informed us that they had not even begun negotiations with Country Wide as this may take up to 120 days. My father and I were shocked that Sharon had lied to us both. I could not believe that I had unintentionally railroaded my father into the arms of such ill mannered crooks. Sharon Brown then called my father and told him not to call and speak to anyone but her because in customer service they hire school boys who don't know what they are talking about. Needless to say we requested a refund due to their ex-employee breaching the contract by deception. We have plenty of email verification, phone records and so forth.

At this point all I can do is hire an attorney to sue People's First Financial for my father's money back. I would suggest to anyone that needs their loan modified, just call your lender. Don't pay anyone to do this for you. More than likely you will loose your money and then spend more to hire an attorney.

If you have been a victim of this fruad or any, please contact Consumer Complaints in your state. We have done this and also contacted our local Congressman. Helping people learn through awareness is the only way to help them. Get the word out. Call your lender. People are out to take advantage of those in need the most. Don't let this be you.

People's First Financial

AUTHOR: Diane - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 27, 2009

I have read a lot of complaints about this company, but let me tell you my story. In July 2008, I started to fall behind on my house payments, we had several very costly repairs to my 2 homes, and gas prices were sky high. I contacted Saxon Mortgage, my mortgage company, since I had a nasty ARM at 10.6%, which kept going up, not making payments any easier on a $270,000 home. I sent them EVERY peice of paperwork they asked, requested my loan % be reduced, they only wanted to set up a repayment plan at twice what I was paying currently, and then they would never return my calls. In Auguat I sent them $7500 to catch up my loan, still no loan reduction or relief. I was falling behind again, and in desperation contacted People's First Financial.

I work full time, and can not spend 12 hours a day on the phone talking to 10 diffrent people about my situation. The nice folks at PFF took over and after paying them a fee of $2400, they started working with me and Saxon. Sadly, Saxon was being as inefficient as they ahd been with me, and they took me into foreclosure, so by Jan 2009, I shelled out another $7500 to Saxon to stop the foreclosure sale on my home, and all the while PFF was behind me, sending in the same paperwork I had sent in months before, and only in Dec 2008 had they, Saxon, started talking to PFF, claiming they had no information on my wanting PFF to represent me, even though I'd sent Saxon the limited power of attorney to their office stating PFF was my representative.
Needless to say, we are still working with Saxon to get the loan modification, but my home was not sold. My rep at PFF helped me through all this.

Nothing happens over night, and a lot of these mortgage companies want nothing more than you to keep paying their high fees and high interest rates. They don't care what your situation is, or that they are getting moneys from the US government so people can stay in their homes, they only crae about thier bottom line.
Sorry, I can't understand why the mortgage companies are so strict, and want you to be 6 -9 months behind on your payments before they will work out any sort of deal, but PFF helped me out. I don't have all day to talk to a dozen people at the mortage company, all who seem to have no idea what you have faxed them, or what agreement you have made with the rep before. Maybe if the mortgage companies were more efficiant, had more folks working for them, or even if they seemed to care about the borrower, we wouldn't have to have companies like PFF.
I even worked with a non-profit group prior to hiring PFF, and Saxon knew nothing about nothing, but my beef is not with PFF, but with Saxon. Please don't short change companies like PFF, they do help.

Diane

AUTHOR: Scammed By Avenue Financial Group In New York - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 19, 2009

Please go to (((Redacted)))!!!!!

This report has been generated as the result of a financial fraud that was committed against me by Avenue Financial Group (AFG) which actually does not exist but the address they provide on their letterhead is 595 Stewart Avenue, Garden City, NY 11530. The telephone number that was used during all communications is 866.403.6662 and the fax number that was used is 516.977.1030. Their website is www.avenuefinancial.net. The names of the two people that I spoke with are Brenda Olsen (x384) and Dennis Crown (x0).

On December 5, 2008 I conducted an online search for a long term personal loan. Mind you, I had never applied for a loan in my life with the exception of my two college degrees and my automobile. I immediately recognized that name Lending Tree, LLC at (((Redacted))) and decided to check further into the process required to obtain a loan. All that was required was that I fill out an application consisting of personal information such as my social security number and address. On December 9, 2008 I was contacted by Brenda Olsen who left a voicemail message stating that I had been approved for a $5,000 loan through Avenue Financial Group based out of New York. After searching for the company name online, I found multiple companies throughout the United States and Canada with the same name, checked the BBB which didn't have any positive or negative information, and researched their website (((Redacted)))
I returned Brenda's phone call on December 9, 2008. Brenda congratulated me on being approved for the $5,000 loan. She explained that because this was a secured loan that I would need to provide collateral for insurance purposes as stated in the faxed agreement. The collateral required consisted of and was equal to 5 monthly payments totaling $1,107.20 and since I was making such a large payment upfront that I would not need to begin repaying the loan until June of 2009 for two years at $221.00 per month. I reviewed the documents numerous times. Everything appeared to be completely legitimate. I borrowed money against my 401K account in order to pay for the collateral. On December 15, 2008 I contacted Brenda Olsen to inform her that I had the collateral payment required to secure the loan. Brenda explained that the lender was located in Canada and that I needed to wire the funds directly to them. I asked Brenda how to wire the money since I had zero knowledge or experience wiring money. She told me to go to Walmart and ask for a red and white form called a Money Gram. I was to send the collateral payment to the Canadian lender, Christine Osborne in Thompson, MB, Canada. Since the fee was going to be $22.00 Brenda told me to simply send $1,100 and the remaining monies would be credited to my loan. I followed all of these instructions and contacted Brenda to provide her with the reference number as requested. Brenda stated that the $5,000 loan would be directly deposited into my account on December 16, 2008.

On the morning of December 16, 2009 I received a voicemail message from Dennis Crown who identified himself as the customer service manager of AFG. Dennis stated in this message that there had been a slight problem with my loan and needed to contact him immediately. Upon contacting Dennis, I learned that the lender after reassessing my loan needed to purchase an additional $1,100 in insurance to secure the loan. My other option was to receive a full refund but that I would not be able to receive this refund until January 5, 2009. I contacted Brenda Olsen who appeared to be completely unaware of the situation and stated that Dennis was a good man and would take good care of me. Brenda also stated that Dennis needed to speak with me again. I contacted Dennis once again who stated that he had spoken with the lender and that they would work something out with me for an additional $800 instead of the original $1,100 to secure the loan. I wired an additional $800 to Christine Osborne in Thompson, MB, Canada through a Money Gram at Walmart. Because the amount wired was less than $800, I was only required to pay $14.16 for the Money Gram fee.

I shared this information with a friend who began to research the company online. She found reports posted by others on www.ripoffreport.com that were identical to my experience with the same exact company as well as similar stories with different companies. These individuals stated that their loans were never deposited into their checking accounts after making two collateral payments. I knew at that point that I had been deceived. I contacted my local police department who filed a report with Financial Crimes. The following day I closed my checking account because they had my checking account number in order to transfer the loan. I also contacted all three credit bureaus to prevent identity theft since these criminals had all of my personal information including my social security number. They also had a faxed copy of my passport that I provided for their requirement to provide a type of government ID. The reason I provided this document as opposed to my driver's license is because I was in my office and it was quicker than getting my wallet out of my purse.

Dennis Crown had the nerve to contact me a third time. This time he stated that they would provide me with a $10,000 loan but that I needed to pay an additional 10 monthly payments. I told him no and demanded a refund in the amount of $1,900. I pretended that I wasn't aware that they had deceived me. Dennis informed me that a refund would be made on January 5, 2009 but since the company doesn't exist I know that I will never see this money again unless someone finds these criminals and prosecutes them to the fullest extent possible. This experience has been completely and utterly devastating. I have been severely violated and am in complete distress.

The website of Avenue Financial was created on 11.05.08 through SiteTiki.com which is a company based out of Singapore. This information can be obtained through the WHOIS database which I discovered on the BBB website. According to http://www.ripoffreport.com/default.asp, there are a series of companies that are potentially being operated by the same people. This inference was derived as a result of the reports filed by other individuals indicating the exact same scam and strategies utilized. I have documented these and am happy to share them with anyone who can help. In addition, Jason from LA who also went through Lending Tree, LLC (see http://www.ripoffreport.com/default.asp) has contacted an attorney in LA as he was scammed out of more than $5,000 and is seeking to file a civil lawsuit

I pray that there is someone out there that can and is willing to assist me and other victims in finding these individuals who are hacking into Lending Tree's website before they violate and take advantage of other innocent people. Please contact me if you have any information as to what I can do to seek justice and to put an end to their criminal practices.

My how convenient, it is not to have any of these peoples info in your system. I guess people from all over the country, just surf the web & say hmm, Peoples first financial seems like a good company to start negative info on. No I'm not a disgruntled employee, or a competitor scam loan mod company, I'm one of your dissatisfied customers. 1 of the ones who trusted you with our houses, lives, & in some cases health. You have got no idea what it is like to put all your faith & hope into a company, in my case 3000 miles away, that you've never met, & probably never will, only to shatter your dreams, & take your money. When I first started getting the mistrust in Peoples Firsat Financial, I went to the B.B.B., & checked you out. That was in Sept. 08, there was 11 complaints filed against you. As of last check, there was over 50 complaints against you. Plus you have a F rating with the B.B.B. I guess these must be clients that you don't have in your data base too. All I can say is what comes around goes around, & may God bless all the people that you're scamming

Donna - Church Road Virginia

AUTHOR: Management - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Client, "Donna - Church Road Virginia" (does not exist in our database), may(or may not) have contracted our company for Research and Analysis of existing terms on a home mortgage. After completing a pre-qualifying screening, said Client would have had to agree to move forward with our services. A contract would have had to be signed stating specifically the terms and agreement between Client and Peoples First Financial. Any breach of contract would null and void the terms and would disallow a refund.

With this being a name that cannot be verified, the case cannot be commented on regarding specifics of results or terms reached. There are many variables that would positively or negatively affect this process and I would advise these people (if this was truly a client) to contact us directly to review their case.

This could very easily be a disgruntled ex-employee, a direct competitor of our company (99% of the time, this is the case) or a client that failed to provide accurate and timely information and they appear to feel that not only did they get coherced into their existing financial situation, but Peoples First Financial is to blame for this decision as well - "My father had an ARM loan with Country Wide Mortgage. At the end of his loan his house payment shot up three hundred dollars. He is on a fixed income and we knew he could not afford this increase."

While the adjustment in their loan payments are unfortunate, the contracts they signed when they received this loan from either CountryWide Home Loans or a broker - states the terms of this loan.

Peoples First Financial's contracts make no guarantee of results from Research and Analysis provided and as we are not the Mortgage Holder for any client and we cannot do a Loan Modification - that is up to the Mortgage Holder/Bank to decide terms. Peoples First Financial can simply structure a plan for clients that have been placed in predicaments due to financial obligations beyond clients means or income due to hardship or poor management of finances.

While this appears to a difficult situation for these clients - there truly are solutions and ways to improve upon this situation with diligence and discipline.

The representative mentioned earlier, Sharon Brown, is no longer with Peoples First Financial and we respect that past employees right to privacy. The other representatives mentioned, are both excellent agents and work quite hard to make sure all clients receive accurate and timely responses while guiding them through a difficult time.

If the person/people writing this complaint truly wants to have their case reviewed again for more favorable results - we welcome the contact and will work diligently to provide excellent service to rectify the situation and restore their faith in Peoples First Financial.

Thank you for your time and we look forward to a response from the author of this post.
