Peoples Rebate Association RIPOFF ATTENTION... FRADULENT CREDIT COMPANY! New York

This notice is to all consumers...I recently have been receiving numerous calls from random 800#'s and blocked calls. One morning, on my way to work, I received and answered the call. I spoke with an "Allison Green" who claimed to represent People's Rebate Association. She verified my name and address (minus my apt. # with me.)

HERE'S WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING...
Allison advised that I was approved for a credit card visa or mastercard with a credit line of $2500. In order to process the card, a one-time activation/membership/annual fee of $299 would be required. She advised that I had been denied credit within the last 6 months and the application was sold to a secondary company who works with banks approving bad/re-establishing cardholders.

What Allison didn't know was that I am not only a soon to be university graduate in Finance, but that I am an assistant supervisor in the Collections/Credit Card Services of an international banking industry. (For security purposes, I cannot disclose my employer.) I had received an email at work to watch and warn our cardholders on vendor and credit card scams. Little did I know that I might become a victim of one.

Basically, Allison went back and forth with me and attempted to counter my questions about the application. She offered to "postdate" a check for me, advised on the fixed interest rate and many other items. However, when I asked her to send me a faxed or mailed copy of the application I was denied, she stated that they did not have access to it. She also could not supply information regarding the bank who denied credit to me. (By law, any credit establishing institution must supply a copy of the original application submitted when requested.)

I informed Allison that I worked in the credit card industry and that I was already aware of all banking and regulation laws...like FDCPA. She became irate that I questioned her motives and I finally requested her number. She stated that their call center couldn't receive incoming calls at all. I advised her that I worked in one, ANY legitimate call center can receive incoming calls some way or another. I requested a number again where I could verify her company and she supplied 866-514-6231. I have called several times and have not been able to get through.

PLEASE CONSUMERS...INFORM YOUR PEERS AND FAMILY...THIS IS A FRADULENT COMPANY!! I don't know who sold my cellular number to this company, but they had my address as well. Please be cautious to the information you supply online and over the phone. IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBABLY IS. I decided to research on the internet for information about PEOPLES REBATE ASSOCIATION. And, I was led to this site about rip offs being reported. Apparently, this is a scam occurring, not so coincidently, before the holidays. And others have been impacted as previous stories indicate.

DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM...ASK QUESTIONS; GET NAMES AND NUMBERS. DO NOT MAKE IMPULSIVE DECISIONS. I HOPE THAT OTHERS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO AVOID THIS.
