I contacted Pet Amber Alert when my pet went missing.  Their promise is to fax a missing pet poster to all of the local vets, shelters, etc, and then to call all local phone numbers and leave a message alerting to the missing animal.  They happily charged my credit card $150 and then did none of these things.  I received an email confirming my enrollment, but when I returned to the website to log in, it had no record of my email or my enrollment.  How is this possible?  I have called and emailed numerous times.  All calls go to an answering service.  I am repeatedly promised an immediate call back and continue to receive none.

This company is unscrupulously preying on people who are grieving for lost pets.  They should be shut down immediately.  The Humane Society has a lost pet service which is free, and they did far more on my behalf than this ridiculous company.  My pet was eventually found, no thanks to Pet Amber Alert.

Just after posting this report, I received an unsigned email from the company listing the shelters and vets to whom they had faxed a missing pet poster the day after I posted my missing pet.  I therefore need to amend my report to say that they did, at least in part, do what was promised.

Unfortunately, their complete lack of communication for the full week prior to my posting this ripoff report led me to believe I had no other recourse.  My phone calls went to an answering service and were never returned, and my emails went unanswered completely.  I truly believed I would never hear back from them.

This morning, I received an unsigned email from the company, this time "thanking" me for posting this ripoff report.  I have never once received a personal call or email with an actual name attached to it, which leads me to believe that nobody at this company takes personal responsibility for customer care.  While I admit that the company did proceed as promised, I had no way of knowing that was the case.  If I had known, I certainly would not have posted this report.  I am not in the habit of trying to defame well-meaning people who provide good service.  Perhaps they can improve their reputation in the future by communicating with their clients.
