I have dodged scams before, so I thought I knew what to ask and what the responses should be. However, when I asked questions like, "is there any possibility that this is going to be a store or catalog card?" and the response was, "No, absolutely not. When you pay us your start-up fee, you will receive a real Visa or Mastercard with a $1500 credit limit in the mail within 21 days." I then asked, "that's my credit limit, but does it come from my own money or what?" He said, "it is 100% the bank's money that you will be using when you use the card." I knew this was being taped and he was telling me that I was getting a credit card that was being reported to the burueaus in such a way that it would build my credit score up. It all sounded legit so I forked over the dough.

Now, I might have been dumb to have believed that a company recording our conversation wouldn't be lying to me, but they were dumb enough to go through with it when I told them I worked for one of the largest and oldest banks in the world, which I won't name right now. The fact is, I can get my money back. I know how and where and who to go to to make it happen. I know the law very well and I have the resources to do this. What I would like is anyone who would like to join me in a class-action lawsuit against these criminals so that we can not only get damages paid to us, but make this stop. I can see that it's happened to a few other people at least, and I'm sure there are plenty more who haven't spoken up. When I was on the phone with my con artist, he thought he was on mute and he said to everyone he worked with, "I just got 13 in a row!!" I knew he was a telemarketer so I thought he was just excited about his commission or whatever. Now I know that he was excited because he "got" 13, meaning 13 had been had.

This happened on June 17th and the $129.95 was drafted on June 21st of 2004. The 21 days isn't even up, but I know by reading all of the other accounts of this scam that I'm not getting my card. Besides that, the guy told me that they just say 21 days to be safe and it usually gets to the victim within 14.

Please join me in getting these bandits stopped and getting help. Like me, if you've been had by these cretons you may have made some mistakes with your credit (hence, you were desperate enough to take the chance), but you don't deserve to be robbed. Like me, you probably have family and people who depend on you and what income you have. Let's put a stop to this!

P.S. Since this service does not allow full names and e-mail addresses, I'm not sure how we can do the class action lawsuit. If anyone has any suggestions contact me by using the rebuttal box below.

I WAS LUCKY

AUTHOR: Good - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 01, 2005

I RECEIVED A CALL TODAY FROM (727)753-7071. THE FIRST GENTLEMAN SAID I QUALIFIED AND THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A SECOND CALL FROM ANOTHER REP.

A FEW MINUTES LATER I RECEIVED THE SECOND CALL AND THIS GUY TRIED TO RUSH THROUGH HIS SPIEL. AFTER SAYING THAT I QUALIFIED HE ASKED ME FOR MY BANKS NAME AND THEN MY ROUTING NUMBER AND CHECK NUMBER. (THIS IS A RED FLAG).

I REBUTTLED THAT HE SHOULD SEND ME SOMETHING OVER THE FAX WITH THEIR LETTER HEAD AND HE RESISTED.

I TOLD HIM I DON'T DO BUSINESS LIKE THAT. THEN I GOOGLED AND FOUND THIS WEBSITE.

TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE BEEN TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF, I TRULY SYMPATHIZE FOR YOU.

HOPEFULLY YOU WILL GET YOUR MONEY BACK. I DON'T THINK THIS HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANY PARTICULAR CELL PHONE COMPANY/ AND OR RADIO SHACK.

I THINK THESE ARE PROFESSIONALS WHO HAVE A DATABASE OF NUMBERS.

THEY GAVE ME A RETURN NUMBER TO CALL IF I SHOULD CHANGE MY MIND.

I DIDN'T CALL IT BUT I HOPE IT HELPS: 1-866-799-2788.

useful considerations

AUTHOR: Charles - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 13, 2005

I have three separate topics A, B, and C.

A. Here are useful points on what to do:

1. Follow in the footsteps of the message posters above - report the activity to an official agency such as the fcc. I can't list a specific email address, since the site will block it, but the fcc's website starts with fcc and has a "gov" suffix. You can also search for the fcc website on google.

2. Don't take anyone's advice/action for granted. I've seen posts about getting together and taking action, but since this site limits posting specific information, it will be very hard to join up with others. Make the move yourself. Assuming the fcc isn't just sitting around all day, they should take your reports seriously. Most of the posters here don't seem to revisit, and I'm afraid most of them give up/become complacent. Who knows, any of us posting here could be employees who just want the other posters to feel like "someone else is taking care of it." Again, don't trust anyone. If you have enough specific knowledge to verify that a class-action lawsuit is actually being filed, then by all means, join. I don't have that expertise, so I wouldn't give my contact info to anyone.

B. Here are some telemarketer techniques:

In order to contact as many people as possible, they'll start off with prerecorded messages. Then if they can get more specific info out of you, they'll "transfer" you to a live person. As soon as you say no, they hang up so they don't waste their own time.

C. Misc information:
I don't have business with verizon, and to my knowledge I've never given my phone # to radio shack.

Agreement with PRIVATE INFO BEING DISTRIBUTED BY VERIZON/RADIO SHACK

AUTHOR: Sussie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 12, 2005

I must agree with the gentleman regarding Verizon and Radio Shack. My phone service is Verizon and it was purchased at Radio Shack. Anyone else in agreement? We all need to do something about this. I am so angry that Corp America is getting away with all these crimes. Is this how they think people will be manipulated into doing business with them. It's more than outrageous it's SAD and PATHETIC. We all need to find out what can be done to exercise our rights. It is clear that these companies are in violation of business laws. Is there anyone who wants to take this on? Any found means we can go about this? How about the media. News stations. How about we all call our local news stations and inendate them with calls until something is done. I hear the squeaky wheel always gets the oil. So how about it? Isen't it scary that all of us have gone through this and nothing has been done to these PIGS. Where has the foundation of our countries values, morals and ethics gone?

What do we all have in common?

AUTHOR: Bill - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 29, 2004

I have been contacted by this company on my Verizon cell phone numerous times (but never answered). So, I googled this number. Hence, I found myself here.

It may be helpful to determine the common denominator here...

Have they been calling just cell phones? Are all of you Verizon customers(either cell or land based)? Did any of your purchase your cell phones/service through Radio Shack? If so, we may have an issue with Verizon or Radio Shack selling their cell phone lists. Or they may not be aware that someone internally is selling this information.

Just a thought...

I was ripped off too and I want my money back.

AUTHOR: Christina - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 22, 2004

I am a single mom and I was contacted by Phoenix Consumer Services on October 27th, after hearing the same thing everyone else did about receiving a credit card in 14 to 21 business days that was guaranteed to build my credit I agreed to the 129.95 fee, and was happy that I might be on my way to building my credit. After 14 business days, and nothing in the mail, but the 129.95 out of my account, I called back the number that they contacted me from (727-530-7071) the line was continously busy for three days. Finally, I got through and a woman answered and told me that she promised my credit card would be in the mail by the 21st business day, but that she would connect me to customer service to make sure that everything was processed okay. I was immediatley disconnected. I decided to wait for the remaining 7 days, and today I received the package in the mail. I was so mad that there was no credit card like I was promised in the package, but I followed the instructions that they put in there and filled out a credit card application with First Premier Bank, however in their instructions it said I would immediatley receive a response of whether I was accepted or not, and no response came up, in fact the response I got was that it could take up to 30 days to know if I was accepted. I then became suspicious and I did a search of Phoenix Consumer Services and the Rip-off Report was what I found. I called the 727-530-7070 number and asked for Brent or Dave like suggested, but I spoke with Brandon and he said Brent does not work there anymore, and Dave is the daytime manager and leaves by 3:00 eastern time, he did however say he would have the customer service manager Fred contact within 15 minutes to discuss getting my money back, but I am still waiting for that call and it has been two hours now. To some people 129.95 may not be a lot of money but to me it is. I am going to go to my bank a get a Federal Regulation E Form like the editors of Rip-off Report suggest, however I would also like to join a class-action lawsuit if there is one started. Since you can't give contact information on this site, I thought that maybe a messageboard could be created to be able to receive contact information, so maybe we could start this lawsuit, and put this company out of business before they rip off more people. I don't know if we can post an address to a message board, but I am willing to start one if other people are serious about this lawsuit. Just a suggestion, so speak up if you are interested.

Another Illegal Unsolicited Cell Call

AUTHOR: Ian - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 18, 2004

I'd just like to add to the comments above that these ripoff artists are calling cellular telephones during peak hours and costing people money. Under U.S. law, these people are ONLY allowed to call your cellular telephone if they have an _existing_ business relationship with you. They obviously do not and are illegally telemarketing to cell phones. When will an appropriate federal agency take action against these scofflaws and shut them down?

Today I received a call on my cell from 727-530-7071 and googled the number and wound up here. Luckily I have gotten wise to the telemarketing machines and have learned the a second of silence before a human responds means they're a telemarketer. I just told them they had the wrong number, it's an effective way of getting rid of them. Not only does it prevent them from calling you back, but it prevents them from sharing your number as legit with their fellow scam buddies.

I am entirely unsure of how these jerks got my name and number, I can only assume I did business with a not so reputable company ordering over the internet. I can't really speculate which one it would be, but I do know my cell number is absolutely unlisted.

Letter to the FCC Regarding Phoenix Consumer Services

AUTHOR: Sussie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 26, 2004

Good Day TSR61,

Here is an update for you by sheer luck I actually got through today to the number (727) 530-7071, that has been calling my cell phone # (516) ***-****. And guess what the woman was completely thrown off when I specifically asked her if she was Janet or Jean. Her response was that she was with Phoenix Consumer Services. I asked her what type of business this was and she said it was a service to approve credit cards. Evidently she had the nerve to ask me if I wanted approval for either my MasterCard or visa.

This is definitely something the FCC needs to get a handle on. This definitely is not acceptable protocol. The next thing she will ask is for your SS# Where does the criminal activity end. As a matter a fact I think someone from here called me a while back and I told them after speaking to a supervisor to stop calling they seem to think they can do whatever they want. I see this being a huge problem in the future and I would suggest the FCC making this information known to all consumers out there to BEWARE......of anyone who calls a cell phone to try and solicit information for a credit card. This is even after I placed myself on the FCC's Do Not Call List. How's that for a system that works now I get calls from these bozos. You and I both know the questions credit card companies ask. Things like your address, SS# where you work. Anyone with this info could have a means of stealing someone's identity. The FCC needs to be proactive in this situation. Please Help.

I warned the woman on the phone that I have reported them to the FCC and that calling people's cell phones is unacceptable business. I told her she had better stop calling peoples cell phones. Than I hung up. I know we hear everyday about the sick ways people have created to commit white collar crimes well here's one of them. We need to make people aware. And another thing how did they get my number did Verizon sell it off a list or do they have the FCC's Do Not Call List? I see this situation s****.> Well there you have it served on a silver platter. Now you have the names, addresses, phone number and the name of the organization responsible. Hope you can put an end to these types of shady business practices.

Thank you.

(516) ***-****

Ripped off and DISGUSTED

AUTHOR: Sonali - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, October 24, 2004

I was scammed by this company - praying that this was going to be the answer that I needed to begin rebuilding my credit. The company debited funds from my account on 9/17 and I have not heard a thing. Fortunately, I have been able to get through on the 800# and was promised a card, not a packet. I would love to join the legal suit. Get this - I work for the 4th largest bank in the US so I guess i should have known better, but I was so desperate!!! I live in Richmond, Virginia.

let me know what I need to do... 129.95 may not be alot to some, but i am a struggling single parent, and im paying for that huge mistake- my kids are paying for it... should I say. Please tell me what to do!!!!

Maybe some just manipulate, but...

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 01, 2004

Because I had been contacted by similar scam artists in the past, I specifically asked if I would be getting a card or just a package of some sort. I was repeatedly told that my piece of plastic with a $1500 credit line by Visa or Mastercard would be coming to my house once they had allowed enough time for my check to clear. I'll try calling those numbers, but I seriously doubt any one will voluntarily hand it over. That's why I'm already in the beginning stages of legal channels with this.

(by the way, I'm the one that started this thread)

Rip off is not the word - I am infuriated.

AUTHOR: Jamie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, July 23, 2004

I too have been taken advantage of by this company and recieved the packet mentioned above. I also thought I knew the proper questions to ask, but apparently not. I would love to join this class action suit. I asked the man if there would be any fees and things of that nature to get the card and he said no.

That I automatically qualified for one card that had no fees. However, my packet had no such information. It was a flat out lie and the only reason I even went for the card is because I live so far from my family and my dad is ill and I thought it would be good to have one in case I had to fly home on a moments notice. I am infuriated.

I too have been scammed by this company. I would like to join the colaboration of people who have been ripped offed. If anyone would like to contact me I am willing to give information of my status with the company. I have passed my 21 day mark and received a packet with an application in it for more cards that would once again charge me money for applying and annual fees. When I was contacted by PCS they informed me that I was pre approved and they were not a locating company for me to apply to other card companies. If they had I would have refused.

I called the local police of Largo, Florida and reported these thieves.

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, July 16, 2004

They suggested I wait one more day for the full 21 days to be up, which I did. I ended up being admitted into the hospital and I'm out now, so I haven't called them back yet.

Monday, the 21st day, came and went without anything, but I got a package in the mail from PCS. It is an application for a payday loan which is illegal in my state, as well as numbers for credit card offers. Also, after calling the police but before receiving the package, I called PCS back.

After receiving "all circuits are busy now" about fifteen times, I did get through. I once again confirmed with the person I was speaking to that I would be getting a credit card for $1500 guaranteed. He said that after I received my package of disclosures (which they supposedly send as a security precaution), all I had to do was sign on the dotted line and send it in for my card.

Trust me, there's no such thing to sign in the package. He was lying (surprise, surprise). I also told him about this website and that people were reporting them as scam artists. He told me they had been in business for ten years and you don't do that by scamming people. Well, obviously you do. However, if I have anything to do with it they won't make it to eleven.
