The convoluted process of dealing with Phoenix Remanufactered Tranmissions (phoenixhardparts.com on the web), has been one nightmare after another lasting more than 2 MONTHS.

It took these guys nearly a month to get the unit to me for starters, then, everything about the unit was wrong! The bell housing, the torque converter... one thing after another. Then once the unit was installed, it turned out to be faulty.

My mechanic and I have made several attempts to contact the owner, Frank, with no reply on his behalf. Another fine example of "Customer NO-Service".

I have been without my vehicle for more than two months now because of the incompetance of this outfit. I have returned all of the parts back to them and have requested a FULL refund in the amount of $3,299.00.

We'll see if they have the stones to honor their guarantee and refund my money. Stay tuned for an update.

Frank Kupperman et al are bad business!!!

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 20, 2008

After a SECOND Phoenix BBB complaint, they were able to squeeze out of Frank a reply stating that he would agree to refund only $3000 for his garbage transmission. That was over a month ago. I had to keep pressing the BBB to put more pressure and maybe hit him in the pocket book to get him off of his @ss and refund the money he owes me. All they were able to get out of this guy was "I'll check with accounting".... a classic tactic used quite often by this horrible excuse for a "business"! I'm begining to wonder about the BBB and their ability to do anything about this. Even the credit card company I bought this junk on has been worthless in helping me. I must reiterate to any one reading this...DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PHOENIX REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSIONS! aka - PHOENIX HARD PARTS.

I found out that PHP has built upon the number of BBB complaints - just in Arizona alone Frank Kuperman and company are well into the 200+ range. You would think somebody over there would get a clue and nail these idiots with some sort of penalty! Without being held accountable for their actions (or lack thereof), Kupperman and his cronies will continue to jerk people around. I now have a lawyer ready to go after these chumps. I was hoping it wouldn't lead to this but it looks like I have no choice.

Stay tuned!......

It took a BBB complaint to get the owner to respond!!!

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 05, 2008

I finally heard back from the incompetent owner of this rip-off company.
Frank Kuperman, this did not return any of my phone calls or respond to my emails to resolve this matter. I shipped their junk back to them April 23 and sent him a friendly reminder that the bad unit had arrived and was in their hands now. The unit supposed to be inspected by the following week to determine if it was faulty due to their incompetence. Well, that turned out to be another lie told by this Kuperman character! Go figure. After emailing and calling this guy on a weekly basis, it finally took the Better Business Bureau of Arizona to get Kuperman off his duff and deal with the situation. Here was his juvenile response to the BBB complaint:

...The item that was sent back to us was not defective. In fact the shop that swapped over the bellhousing, forgot to install the snap ring that retains the clutches, therefore the item did not work. It looks as if the damage to the unit was done to sabotage it and then force you to purchase a unit from them directly. I have pictures showing this, and they can be sent to you. Sorry, for the delay in inspecting the unit, we have been busy!! The unit will be accepted back and you will be refunded less $300 shipping and $150.00 for my tech to repair and replace the damage done by Brentwood Transmissions....

Here is my response to his BS:

...First of all, Brentwood Transmission would not "sabotage" your transmission to get me to buy one of theirs, that is an utterly ridiculous and childish thing for you to even think, let alone say. Brentwood Trans has been in business for over 25 years and has an excellent reputation! Way better than Phoenix Retrans' reputation I assure you.

Second of all, how do I know Phoenix didn't remove the snap rings BEFORE taking the pictures of the unit. I have a hard time believing this outfit and their poor excuse (along with the insincere apology) for why it took so long to deal with this.

For what I have had to endure from the incompetent handling of this whole situation on their behalf and the inconvenience of being without my car for 3 months, I think the only fair thing for Phoenix Retrans to do is refund the entire $3299.00. Trying to charge me $300 for shipping their unit back to them and then tacking on another $150 for some tech to supposedly fix something that may have been his fault to begin with is unacceptable. Google search phoenixhardparts, phoenix remanufactured transmissions and phoenix retrans (I wish I had done this before dealing with this place) and you will see that they have built-up quite a horrible reputation. Not to mention over 180 BBB complaints.

That's where this nightmare stands. Do yourselves a favor folks, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PHOENIX REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSIONS!!

Finally got in contact with the owner Frank and he said that after they inspect the crappy unit and it is found to be faulty due to their workmanship, then they might give me a refund. That was severals weeks ago and I have yet to here from anyone over there, even after several attemps to contact them. Frank and Sheila have not been responsive at all. These people are a nightmare to deal with! Avoid doing buisness with these jerkies at all cost!!!
