Phonepages.ca Scam Montreal, Quebec Canada

Phonepages.ca has been using the same rip-off tactics for at least 4 years. They phone and ask if you want to renew a contract. When you assume that you must have approved this before, and/or assume it is your local yellow pages, they will call you back to confirm. It is only after doing some research we found out is was a scam.

A quick follow up call to them resulted in the revelation that the "renewal"was for a "free" ad that of course you knew nothing about. Repeated calls and faxes instructing them to immediately remove the ad has resulted only in a once a week or so fax invoice for $350. They have been told that we are not paying, and that we were mislead by possibly fraudulent telemarketing. We are now being contacted by a US collection agency.

Phonepages.ca is to be avoided at all costs. If contacted by them notify the Quebec BBB, Phonebusters.ca and possibly the Quebec Provincial Police. Do not pay. We are not!
