I had what should be considered relatively minor water damage as a result of a leak from a washing machine in the laundry room, which is located on the second level of my place.

I called Pinnacle for an estimate. Joe (the owner) came by and first gave me a verbal estimate of $1,500.

The next day he informed me that the cost of the damage was actually $2,498.98. The company wanted advanced payment in full and wanted my credit card.

When I asked him the reason for the discrepancy, he muttered something about water damage is always difficult to estimate on the spot until one sits down with a calculator.

To make a long story short, I discovered that the insurance deductible was $2,500.00 and therefore as the above estimate was 2 cents below the deductible, there was no insurance claim.

Pinnacle, obviously recognized that I was on the hook for the bill myself and was trying to gouge me....right up to the limit....2 cents!!

I realized this when the insurance adjuster came by and did their own assessment of the water damage.

Needless to say, I did not use the services of Pinnacle Cleaning and Restoration on Dawson Street in Burnaby, British Columbia.

I note that even when a company is a member of the BBB, they can still prey on consumer ignorance. I think that sometimes companies will buy BBB membership in order to shield themselves.

As owner of Pinnacle Cleaning and Restoration since 1992 I would first like to say how disappointed I am that someone can, and would, take the time to slander and tarnish what would otherwise be an impeccable and untainted customer service record.

It's true that one cannot please everyone, all the time. Problems do arise, as they do with any business. We take our customer service and complaints very seriously and are proud of our reputation we have built. Please keep in mind that the "Complainer" was not a client, or ever will be for that matter.

It is our policy to provide a free detailed estimate of costs in writing only. This was in fact provided to the Strata Council of the property Mark lives in. The entire costs to complete the necessary repairs of the damage as per current insurance industry standards, was actually over $5,000. In this claim I simply tried to minimize the costs to the best of my ability as a favor to this potential client as at the time of the estimate he was liable for the damage. Please note: the quotation provided to Mark included additional notes that further work may be required to complete the repairs to his neighbor's satisfaction as well. The entireties of these costs were represented in our estimate to the Strata Council.

A $1000.00 deposit was requested from Mark to begin process, a reasonable request not knowing the character and personality of the client.

Regarding the insurance deductible, it is impossible to know the deductible amount without seeing the Strata's Insurance Policy first as deductible's can range from $200.00-$100,000.00+ pending property claims volume. Maybe Mark feels I was clairvoyant, but I can assure you I am not.

As this rebuttal may be my only recourse for such an ignorant and uninformed judgment of our company, I am assured all potential readers will disregard the opinions of this dazed & confused individual.
