Pinnacle Credit Service Posted fraudulent debt to my credit report. Was not even aware of this until I checked my credit report ripoff Saint Louis Park Minnesota

If anyone has advice, PLEASE HELP!

On reviewing my credit report I found a debt of almost $20,000 that was reported as seriously past due and in collection. The original debt seemed to be a loan from Chase Manhattan Bank. I have never banked with or borrowed money from this institution. My credit report said Pinnacle Credit Service was the collection agency. First, I called various fraud depts at Chase Manhattan. They could not locate any record of such a loan in my name despite several efforts.

Next I called Pinnacle Credit Service (when I eventually found their number on this site) and spoke to someone who actually laughed at me when I explained I needed to speak to someone regarding fraudulent activity. She wouldn't give me her name and told me I was wasting her time!! She was beyond rude.

Obviously, I have reported this to the credit agencies and will make a police report.

I had never been contacted regarding this supposed debt and only became aware of this upon checking my credit report. I do not know if my identity has been stolen or if I am just another victim of these scam artists.
Obviously there is no point in calling Pinnacle Credit Service again as these people are scam artists/ criminals. Do I need to get a lawyer? Any advice is welcome Thank you.
