Pitneys Bowes supplies postage meters to small businesses. They called me recently after I changed locations and offered me their machine for 90 day free trial. I told them specifically up front, that I would only take the machine if it could also produce delivery confirmation labels. They stated it could so I gave them my credit card number and they charged $30.00 of postage to get me started.
I got the machine after almost 2 weeks, because after signing up and giving my new address to TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE, they still shipped it to the old address!
I opened it up, looked at the instructions and saw nothing about delivery confirmation labels. I to the info to the post office and they said this machine could not be used for delivery confirmation.
I called Pitney Bowes back, and told them I wanted to return the machine. I got tossed around to FIVE different people, and NONE of them would issue me a return! They kept trying to tell me I needed a more expensive machine to do the confirmation labels. I told them NO. They finally agreed to process my return. I gave them my correct address (THIRD TIME NOW), and they shipped me 2 boxes to return the product - to my OLD ADDRESS AGAIN!!
I got the boxes, followed all the return directions and sent it back on 10/15/02. As of 1/6/03, I STILL have not received my refund for the $30.00 postage that I never even LOADED to the machine!
I called them on 12/30/02, and they told me a check had been issued on 12/7/02 by the postal service. I told her that unless the USPS was hand-delivering it ON FOOT, then it was lost. Pitney Bowes refused to do anything further to help me. I asked for someone I could talk to at the USPS about my refund, and they refused to give me any contact info!
PITNEY BOWES is a ripoff ALL THE WAY AROUND. They don't care about their customers needs (by lying to them to get them to take ANY product), they don't LISTEN to their customers (can't even get their mailing address correct), the refuse to provide customer service on returns (SOMEDAY, I will get a refund... maybe??)
I for one will NEVER purchase any Pitney Bowes products and recommend to everyone that you think twice about dealing with them!!

There is no one else to blame other than Pitney Bowes

MTs may be responsible for some of the outrage customers of Pitney Bowes experience, however, as an employee of this company I can tell you from first hand experience they are the ones responsible for calls getting transfered 5 + times and lousey service. You know what they do? They take new people on, some of them from temp agencies and train them 2 weeks depending on the department and then you're out on the floor!
So basically no one who works there knows what they're doing, all we know is that if we don't cram purchase power, cleaning kits and what ever else we're selling down you're throat we lose our jobs. They don't just screw the customers, they screw the employees also because when customers call to have those outrageous late fees and finance charges waived it goes against the employee even if its a valid reason.
Another messed up thing we do, charge transaction fees and refill fees for using PP credit when you get postage. They get you coming and going. And technically so PB says we don't even have to send out statements, we send them as a courtesy. Believe me, working for PB is worse than being a customer of PB because I have to hear all the horror stories!

MILLENIUM STRIKES AGAIN! MTS instructs employees to sell regardless of what the customer is saying

I am not surprised at all by what you went thru. Pitney Bowes contracted Millenium Teleservices, aka Civic Development Group,LLC,aka CDG management, llc a New Jersey based Telemarketing Company to call on behalf of Pitney Bowes. I am very familiar with MTs and how they operate. They are a ruthless, overbearing ,controling, and manipulating company. MTS instructs employees to sell regardless of what the customer is saying. The statement from coaches, managers, and corporate is GET THAT CREDIT CARD NUMBER to confirm the sale. MTS makes the deal sound too good to be true. I honestly do not believe Pitney Bowes is aware of the techniques MTS uses to get the sale. Pitney Bowes is a very reputable company considering the connection they have with the United States Postal Service. The ripoff is with the venders they use.
Quality Assurance is where the issue lies. If you truly want to receive your $30.00 credit it may be more helpful to contact MTS corporate office.
That telephone number is 1-800-554-0087 and ask for the Pitney Bowes division account manager. I would also recommend that you contact the Federal Trade Commission at 1-877-382-4357 and file a complaint. The FTC is the consumer protection agency that governs telemarketing. I know withouta doubt they will investigate this issue until resolution. I hope this information is helpful to you.
