I did a really stupid thing.  I was short of money one month and went to Plain Green Loans.  I borrowed $1000.00 and they set up a payment schedule for 1 Year.  The interest on the loan was almost 300% and because I was stupid I went ahead and got it anyway.  I started to pay it off and after moving to a new location just recently and changing bank accounts I sent a payment to try to catch my account up.  I just got off the phone with them and they said my account had been cloosed and was going to collection and that I still owed $6691.91 and to stop it from going to collection I had to pay it today.  I questioned them on the $300.00 payment I had sent in and they said they did not except it.  I said someone did because it did not go back to my bank account.  He checked and came back on the phone and said they found the payment and credited my account.  So I still owe $391.91 and they wanted it today.  I told them I am on Social Security and get my check at the end of the month.  Their solution was for me to ask someone for money!!!!!  INCREDIBLE!!!!!  I am one upset person and trying to help the next stupid person out there thinking of using Plain Green Loans.   DON'T DO IT!!!!!!

Positive Experience with Plain Green Loans

AUTHOR: SilkyPink - ()

POSTED: Thursday, January 09, 2014

I applied for a Plain Green Loan in the summer of 2013 and the sooner you pay it back, the less interest you will accrue.  My $250 was repaid within 2-3 payments and I had no issues whatsoever.  The next application, they gave me a higher approval amount.

I borrowed again for the holidays and my payment was direct deposited into the wrong bank account which I had linked to my PGL account.  Of course, the payment was returned and I was charged a late fee of $30.00.  I immediately called to resolve the issue and requested that the return fee get waived and they quickly waived it so that I can bring my account current.

My next payment got returned again--okay the payroll system was acting wonky and this has been resolved.  Anyway, there was another return fee so I immediately called the night before it was due (my bank gives me alerts on every attempted transaction so I knew earlier).  They couldnt do anything without the resolution payment being posted to the next due date so they told me to call back the next day.

The next day I called and tried to resolve the past due.  I provided an alternate debit card with number and all-- also requested NSF fee to be waived.  This particular rep just ignored my request--did not acknowledge if he can waive OR not.  Payment was "applied" and I was still past due because of the NSF fee.

The next night I received an alert that my payment couldn't be processed.  I called PGL and the rep couldn't do anything to help resolve so she transferred me to her supervisor.

The supervisor was VERY helpful, understanding, and friendly.  He listened to my back story and issue and said that he will review the recorded call (all calls are recorded) and call me back.

He called me back within 30 minutes...

To make a super long story short, the supervisor waived BOTH return fees, updated my account to bring it current, and was very friendly and apologized.  He did reiterate that if I pay it off earlier, it will be less expensive--which is true.

MORAL of the STORY:  Only use PGL in emergency situations.  Pay it off early or pay a little extra towards the principal balance.  Try to resolve everything immediately and they are very helpful.  Sometimes you will get a bad seed in the bunch but NICELY ask to speak to a supervisor.
