Planet Toyota Questionable Tactics Ripoff Matteson Illinois

In August of 2006, we went to Planet Toyota looking for a 2006 Rav4. Since it was the end of the season, we were unable to find the color and option package that we were looking for (we sort of expected that). Al, our Salesman, claimed that they would do a search on the "computer" and get the vehicle that we wanted. We said OK, and told him to call us when it arrived and that we would talk numbers at that time.

Incredibly, Al said that "Management" required a $500 deposit to even look on the computer. We laughed and said, "Al, let me get this straight. You want a $500 deposit for something that we don't know if it even exists?" He gave us some line about "company policy", but we responded that a deposit would only commit us to this particular dealership. We told him, "If the exact vehicle can not be found, then you would be in a perfect position to sell us any vehicle that you want, and you wouldn't want that, now would you Al?"

Anyway, we ended up walking out. Thanks to this site, we were on our guard and not as trusting as we would otherwise have been. We'll just wait for the 2007's.
