A Platinum Protection Victim Report December 5, 2008

On Saturday, June 28th 2008 at about 4:30 pm, a young man named Dustin Riecan came to my home and told me I was chosen to receive a free one per neighborhood home security system.

Dustin called the installer. A few minutes later, the installer arrived and began installing the system. I questioned the Installer about his workmanship. He just ignored me and continued with the installation. After installing the system, he showed me how to arm it, but never tested the system before leaving around 1:00 am. After the installer left, Dustin informed me that I had to pay a $50.00 one-time installation fee.

After a few days of dealing with a literal head ache, I tried to arm the system and a voice came on saying my back door is not shut. It was shut and dead bolted tight. The poor workmanship of the installer made the system un-armable. I therefore, proceeded to cancel the service. I checked the cancellation note and found that it was already too late to cancel.

I thought it was a one-time installation fee, but after reviewing the paperwork with a magnifying glass, I noticed that there was a monthly fee of about $50.00.

I have been scammed and cause a great amount of stress. I have definitely learned a hard lesson about succumbing to the tactics and pressure of door-to-door salesmen.

I have talked to Platinum Protection and told them that their security system does not work. So I carefully removed all the security system equipment and placed it back into their original boxes and then placed them into a larger box.

I told Platinum Protection that I will send it all back to them and that I want nothing else to do with them. They told me they will take the home security system equipment back however, they will still try to collect for monthly no service.

I believe Platinum Protection is using deception, fraud, extortion, and racketeering to scam home owners.

Sincerely,

Daniel
