My central air died a few days ago and we need a new unit. I'm a contractor and my latest paymet, which covers the down payment the heating and cooling company needed to start the work, was pending in my account, with no other debits at ALL pending. The payment was sent to my accound on Tuesday. I wrote a check to the company and the guy left my house at 4:00 on Friday afternoon. I hadn't checked my account but figured the pending deposit from Tuesday would be in my account by Friday. Wrong. And PNC cleared the heating and cooling check at what, 5:00 on a Friday afternoon, but my deposit is still sitting there. Of course they charged me $36 because of it. They hold deposits and reorder things to make money off consumers. Avoid PNC. I will be switching banks soon.

Go Ahead And Switch Banks

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, August 06, 2016

Until and unless you learn how to manage a checking account, you will have the same problem. To manage a checking account means to keep written records with an on-going running balance so you know exactly how much to spend. It also means you fully know and abide by the funds availability policy. Your failure to do that in this instance gave you a bounced check fee. You did that, not the bank. Going online and looking at the balance is not accurate and the bank will tell you that. It's that way at all banks because the bank does not know what debits have not yet been submitted by merchants you've dealt with. NO RIPOFF HERE- Complainer has no clue about the bank's funds availability policy and fails to keep any records of account usage, yet blames the bank for overdraft fees he could have avoided!
