Our contractor suggested using portable storage as our kitchen was renovated. PODS seemed like a good option. But then add to that a substantial delivery charge (there will be a pickup charge too) and monthly insurance and now we are paying over $180.00 a month. Worse yet we had the unit placed behind the house which required their truck to drive across our rear lawn. The driver brings out a waiver and the truck (far too heavy in my opinion) tears up our lawn making the delivery (8" deep tire grooves, crushing our underground drainage system). Worse yet we still have the unit in the yard two months after we have finished with the unit (it has been rainier than usual this month). According to PODS that is our contract--we must pay until they can pick up the unit. My opinion--PODS should make better assessments of the delivery site and develop a different system for making deliveries on soft terrain. More customer communication up front about the potential for extra charges and the obligation to pay for an unused unit when PODS cannot pick up the unit would be helpful. A costly mistake for us. We are now looking at thousands to repair the damage done to our lawn and drainage system. Be very careful to look at what you are signing-their lawyers have protected their interests well. The customer--not so much. When the waiver comes out cancel the order and look for other options.
