I worked for this company in Port Richey, Fl for 3 days. The only thing I can say is they make it sound like they are raising money for the families of the fallen officers in that state. Someone may want to verify that, I don't know if that is true since the checks, billings are made out to Police Protective Fund and it doesn't designate a state. They also tell people that they aren't like other organizations that hire telemarketers or fund raising organizations, with us all funds go directly to the Police Protective Fund. That is true, but they don't say that the money is then used to pay for call centers to be set up in different states, rents, utilities, telemaketers that are paid an hourly wage and commissions off the money they raise, managers salary, commissions and bonuses and then of course all the expenses the corporate office has. So although the statement is true in a grey area, it is unprofessional and very misleading. Especially to these poor old elderly people that are barely getting by and then say even $20 or $15 would help, it's for the families of the fallen officers. The sales manager says don't listen to their sob story, just get the money. Also, if they did UA's on the telemarketers, 2/3 of them wouldn't pass it, our manager even made a joke about it with one of his tops guys how he looked "tired" after lunch and laughed about it. I don't think it should be allowed especially since they are collecting peoples CC#s, etc.

Update to Police Protective Fund

AUTHOR: nickname - ()

POSTED: Saturday, July 26, 2014

Since my last report I have done more investigating into this "charity" and I use that term very loosely.  Jason Robert Williams is another reason not to trust this charity or donate money to them. He is the Sales Manager in their MAIN OFFICE/ Boiler Room in PORT RICHEY ,FL . at 10438 US HIghway 19 behind the Arby's.
He is also a convicted felon and a registered sex offender. This can be verified through the FL Dept. of Corrections. follow this link- http://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender. This is ironic since his ads for telemarketers says that you must pass a felony background check. His background check is to ask you if he is going to find any surprises on your felony check instead of actually doing one.

If you have people asking for money for a "legitimate" Police Fund, would you want that? Especially when he is asking people for CC#'s or banking info. There is more than one felon working for them. They have no drug testing policy in place which is strange since their claim to fame for the children of fallen officers is their Jr Academy they say they sponsor and put on in a safe non gang, drug free environment.

They have no regard for the law,the lady from the salon next door had to complain more than once about the telemarketers going out on their smoke breaks and pissing behind the back door to her business. Tampa Bay Times did a story on them (http://www.tampabay.com/americas-worst-charities/charities/police-protective-fund) and rated them as the 20th worse charity out of 100 of the worst to give money to.

In 10 years time from 2001-2010 they collected over $50,000,000 From 2001 to 2010, the charity spent $261,543 total on direct cash assistance, including benefits provided to the families of police officers killed in the line of duty, according to tax filings. So if you do the math they only use about 0.8% of funds collected for the purpose iven to the unsuspecting donors. Charity Navigator has given them the same rating. Channel 5 ABC News in TN also said the same. The FTC is also investigating them at the time of this post. Google them and you will see all kinds of stories. Non-good, except for the ones they write themselves.
If you want to help your local law enforcement, call them and ask them directly where you can donate. That way you can be assured that your hard earned money is actually being used for the officers families.
