Powerhouse Gym Files fraudulent memberships for minors and refuses to reverse the charges Novi, Michigan

Never in my life have I saw a business with such a supposedly big name be so crooked.  I have a 17 year old daughter that came in with a $100 gift card.  They proceed to tell her that the gift card was a promotion and could not be used for anything.  I fail to understand how they can call this a gift card.  A gift card, to the best of my knowledge, is more or less like a coupon that can be used for something in return.

Anyways, the consultant sees that she is UNDER 18 years of age and acknowledges that they must contact a parent which they proceed to do.  Granted, there is some sneaky sales tactics going on but I never really had an issue with that part, that's life.  You have a young person trying to make a commission, been there, done that.  However, they immediately get a hold of a parent and that parent adamantly states, "no, she may not get a membership"  Again, I still don't hold the sales consultant responsible.  I'm sure it was a manager's job to make sure that the membership was cancelled and not to be charged.

To make a long story short, a few weeks later, they charge my daughter $29.99.  At this point, I'm still not upset.  I figure there is a misunderstanding and I need to contact them and have it adjusted.  I call first time, no manager is available, second time, same thing.  By the ninth or tenth time, they begin to upgrade their lies to 'the manager is currently in a meeting'.  I left my phone number and never got a call back.

Eventually, I decide to let someone else take over, as I am now just too frustrated to deal with these people.  Somehow, this person does a little yelling and complaining and now they finally ADMIT to being the manager.  They agree to reverse the charges and put all of the blame off on the sales consultant and inform this other person that they have 'fired a whole bunch of employees' for writing bad memberships. Granted, something I'm not buying but.....  Most gyms would have a MANAGER check over the memberships and the credit card information but if this jerk wants to tell us some story to make him/herself feel better about not doing his job, then fine.  From what I was told, this alleged manager actually tried to sell the story that this bunch of employees were inputting in bogus memberships.

Now they refuse to refund the membership and act like they never heard from us.  So our only choice is to contact our bank and have the situation resolved through an actual reputable business.  
Maybe they might have been able to actually have sold us on the membership had they just called us back.  But my daughter has NO IDEA how much the overall membership is, how long the membership is for, no paperwork or exactly what she is entitled to.  Most importantly, why call a parent for permission if you are going to just process the paperwork anyways. This is why minors are not allowed to sign contracts.  

I can assure Powerhouse Gym that I will have costed them far more than $29.99 before it's done.
