I took my 2011 Nissan that had 28,000 miles on it into Powers Nissan in Vancouver for a standard brake inspection. After the two hours, the mechanic came out to "give me the bad news".
Said I needed $1200 worth of work, $400 for some rear brake pads (which were down to .2). I said that is kinda high for brake pads and he said that my Nissan needed "special brake pads" that he had to special order.
Being that I am a blonde, and expect to get taken advantage of for any mechanical work, said thanks but no thanks, I am going to get a second opinion. With that he got a kinda sick look on his face and I left.
I immediately went to my dealership and they inspected my car and came to the conclusion that I was not in need of new brake pads and not only that there was no evidence that my brake pads had even been scrutinized. On top of that the mechanic told me that if I had needed new break pads that they would have costed me less than $79 not including labor.
How many women and elderly people have been ripped off by these scammers?
