I was auditing my elderly mothers checking account statement and noticed she had a charge for 149.00 from Preferred Guest Resorts(PGR).  Turns out a "high pressure" sales person convinced my mother (even though she said she didn't have the money)  to post date 2 payments for when her social security came in over the next two months.  My mother agreed to make 2 payments of 149.00 for March and April.  My mom is an elderly woman who has not and never will get to use this vacation.

She has dymensia bordering on Alzheimers and didn't even remember authorizing these charges when I asked what they were for.  I contacted PGR and explained that my mother is disabled and did not realize that she was spending money she did not have and that these monies came from a fixed income in which she purchases her medication and necessities and asked them to please refund her money.  PGR said they would cancel her April payment but would not refund her March payment.

I explained that my mother does not have total mental capacity and that as a show of good faith and along the spirit of good customer relations, they should refund her money.  I further explained that she will never use the vacation as she is not physically able to take any trips and will not be anytime in the future.   The "Quality Assurance" person EVA ..employee # 2216 told me that there was nothing she could do other than to stop the future payment but could not refund the one they had already taken.  I then asked if she was not authorized to refund the payment, who could I speak with that had the authority.

She told me there was no one.  She was as high on the "totem pole" as I was going to get and no one would be able to help me.  She told me I could call back as many times as I want and I was only going to get "Quality Assurance."  No one else will speak with me.  My mom did not know what she was doing when she made this agreement.  She is not going to use it but yet, they insist she agreed and thus is not entitled to a refund.  High pressure phone salesman, elderly woman with limitied mental and physical capacites...you get the picture.  They took advantage of her.  SHAME ON YOU PGR!  Do you really need the money that bad that you will rip off an elderly woman?
