I talked with Ruben Doty, owner of the company about having a single drain cleaned. He didn't give a price but indicated he would be very reasonable. He came out and couldn't even find the cleanout at the end of my house without my help. Once found he didn't have the equipment to clean the drain. Seems he was a very high priced digger! He called another company to come do the actual drain cleaning.

At some time after that, I received a bill for a whopping $294.94! He said it was because of the time and the fact that he had to pay someone else to do the job.

Now after checking with other plumbing companies in the area, I find the going rate for this service is only $95 (often less) and doesn't matter how long it takes to find the cleanout or get the job done. It's a standard fee for the service. His response: "Use them (the other guys) next time."

I feel everyone else should take his advice and stay from Ruben Doty and Preferred Plumbing. Now he's also sued for the bill. I'm sure he'll win that but wait and see how much it costs him. Ruben, you can find similar statements on my and other local websites.
