I recently attended the mass auto sale at the local Naval Air Base. The very last lot I went to was set up by these guys. They had a 2000 Mustang GT that drew my husband in quickly (as I have been looking for a GT).

After much discussion and talking, we decided to run the numbers. In the middle of test driving it, My husband noticed that there was a state inspection "REJECTION" sticker in the window. When asked about it, the sales guy merely responded with "it had bad windshield wipers, anything else we'll have to ask the boss". Once returning to the lot, we asked why it failed. It had failed because the Catalytic Converters were taken off, cleaned out and out back on. A minor thing to have in the state where I was registering it (so I thought). I had noticed burn holes in the seats and demanded they be fixed before I even thought about buying the car. They agreed.

When driving the car home, I found numerous things inside the car did not work. I was completely unsatified with the car and tried to take back not even 24 hours later. The dealership got all crappy with me telling me that I had signed a contract and that the car was mine, period. What I didn't know was my dad was the "co-owner" of my trade-in, and he was refusing to sign it over, therefore making the sale of the GT illegal. Still they denied... infact they said they would change the paperwork to make it legal that my dad didn't have to sign. Or if I wanted it "my way".."Daddy" could have his car and the GT and we could have two car payments.

After much much arguing, crying and screaming, they agreed to give me my CD player from my trade-in and have it re-inspected for me (which was known it was going to fail again). And have the car detailed for me.

Once I decided there was nothing I could do to salvage my trade-in from them, I unwillingly took the GT and went with it. Upon getting it back from getting the seats "fixed" my dog jumped in the car and 1 of the holes is back (it was just a cheap cover-up to get me off the lot), once the CD player was traded out, I found the speakers no longer worked. So I took that to be fixed, the speakers has to be COMPLETELY rewired back to stock.

I went to have the Cats looked at.. turns out the dealership lied about them being gutted.. they were gutted right off the car. They werent there at all. In that one trip, I spent over $1,000 to just get it legal in the state of VA, then they wanted to fail me for the windshield wipers that were supposedly changed two weeks prior. I also found out they sold it to me with bad brakes, which they failed to tell me about the car. The bumper is loose and coming off.. as is the wheel well cover. The hood latch is broken and the hood won't close. They had their dealership sticker on the trunk covering a huge scrape in the paint.

So.. they charged me well over 3000 more for the car than it was actually worth.. then added another 1000 for my trade-in (which they kindly told me was a hunk of junk). I then paid 1500 to just make it legal and give me music. They then , just today sold my trade-in from their lot. They have not even paid off my car loan yet. So, not only did they illegally sell me the GT, but now have illegally sold another car from their lot to someone else. A car that really still belongs to me.

I do know, I am never shopping from any little car lots ever again (if I had know what their actual lot looked like to begin with, I would have halted the sale there), I have learned people are crooks.. I have learned VA makes up their laws as they go. But most importantly I have learned NEVER EVER shop from Premier auto brokers!!

OFF SITE CREDIT UNION SALES

AUTHOR: L - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 13, 2006

These Navy Federal Credit Union sales are good, and make a lot of money for the credit unions/dealerships...I work for one of the dealerships that were at the tent sale. WHAT THEY DONT TELL YOU is that you have SEVEN (7) DAYS at a tent sale to un-do the deal. In other words, if you would have known, you could have returned the vehicle and got your check back. If you don't believe me, ask the credit union. I am a salesman yes, but a CHRISTIAN and a HUMAN first! These Virginia dealers are SHADY, I am fortunate to work for one who isn't "as shady" as the rest of the snakes! DON'T KNOCK ALL LITTLE DEALERS!! There are some big dealers who will do you WORSE than a little dealer can ever do....READ THE REST OF THE REPORTS!!

I was going to let this one pass, but

I had to respond...

This is NOT a ripoff. ALL THE SIGNS WERE CLEAR when you looked at the car. REJECTED INSPECTION, burn holes in the seats, no radio, bad catalytic converts (or missing). WHY DID YOU EVEN THINK OF BUYING THIS CAR? You are totally responsible for this whole mess. You knew all these things were wrong, yet you bought the car anyway.

I can't understand what you are complaining about. If you couldn't possibly live without this car, at the very least you should've taken it to a mechanic for inspection BEFORE BUYING. Red flags were jumping up and biting you all over the place, but you ignored them. PLUS YOU PAID TOO MUCH AND YOU KNEW IT! Geesh lady. Ok, the dealer took advantage of you, it happens all the time, but you let it happen.

Now, as far as the converters. In most states it is illegal to sell a car that does not pass inspection. You might check on that approach to recoup some of your repair bills.
