In February of 2004, we made arrangements with Prestige to go to Jamaica for our wedding. We made all the payments, way in advance, and received, after many problems having the payments posted to the correct account, confirmation that everything was taken care of.

On the day of our trip, August 15, 2004, when we and our guest were at the airport, we were informed that we needed a birth certificate or a passport. Prestige had advised us in writing that we needed valid I.D. We had our drivers license and military I.D, but we did not take our birth certificates or passports with us to the airport that morning.

The next day we contacted Prestige and informed them of what had happened, and they advised us that for about $300.00 per person we could go the next day. They stated that they had told us in writing that we needed our birth certificates. We offered to e-mail them back all the information they had sent us. Nothing on these faxes or e-mail state that a passport or birth certificate would be needed.

We would have had no problem bringing our birth certificates with us had we been informed. To date no arrangements have been made to assist us. They inform us that we need to pay additional money if we wish to go on our honeymoon. They have shown lack of respect, and have advised us that they would do not more for us at this point, if we are not willing to pay additional money. Of course the trip is already paid in full.

Prestige Service Travel were not liars

AUTHOR: Evildoer - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, March 05, 2010

I worked at Prestige Service Travel for almost 3 years, and worked there as both a sales Agent manager, and later as a Customer Service manager until almost the end of the company which sadly went under due to some bad luck with Sandals, and Beaches.

But from having worked there I know that we gave our clients all the right information 100% of the time, and we drilled our agents to always give the right information to the clients.

Sorry if your to stupid to listen to instructions, and if you got yourself into problems... Anyway don't blame Prestige Service Travel for your own stupidity.

Jason, Mark Squillante, Kelvin, Dave Grosso, and the rest of those folks did a good job for the clients, and they are stand up people.

I know this report is old but I had to drop my two cents... Take care!

You were told clearly to bring your birth certificates!

Hi, My husband and I are scheduled for Jamaica this April, and I also have to disagree with you. Prestige DID tell you (and me) to go with your birth certificate, you just did not like the embarrassment and expense of getting caught unprepared - it sounds like it was your fault, but since it was your honeymoon, you just can't accept it, and Prestige is not going to pay for your mistake.

It's pretty straightforward - if you are leaving the country, find out what you need to know. A simple internet search on Jamaica or a trip to the travel.gov site for the US gov't tells you not only that you need at least a birth certificate and ID, but the site also tells you about safety measures and important things you should know about Jamaica, like where NOT to get caught after dark, and the crime rates. BE SAFE, and just get passports, and you'll never have this problem again.

But don't complain about Prestige. We took the plunge to get passports, which ensures that you don't have to have such sensitive documents such a birth certificates in your hands while traveling. And it means that it you ever want to leave the country on a moments notice for a short vacay, you can without a second thought! Blessings, J

PRESTIGE SERVICE

AUTHOR: Grant - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 08, 2004

My wife and I also booked with Prestige Service Travel in Miami, and I hate to disagree with you but they have been nothing but wonderful.

We are both ex-military ourselves, and we asked this very question if we could use our military IDs to travel to Jamaica. Our sales agent informed us immediately that the documents we would need were both a STATE-ISSUED ID such as a resident card or driver's license, and a state-issued birth certificate with the raised seal.

Instead of doing what you did, we followed our agent's advice to the letter and took both these documents to the airport, and boarded the plane just fine, and had a wonderful honeymoon.

I am sorry to hear that two people from the United States Armed Forces had a problem following instructions, and instead of recognizing this, that you had to instead blame a company that has for us, gone above and beyond the call of duty.
