Primus Communications, Lingo Misrepresentation, deceptive service incapable equipment refused to Cancel McLean Virginia

I ordered Lingo, a broad band internet service, in June, 2008. They guaranteed that their service would work to send a fax. The fax never worked and after calling tech support they finally admitted that they were aware that their fax service does not work. They said that they were trying to correct the problem. I called customer service on three consecutive days to cancel my account within the 30 day trial period, and they told me that the fax would work; I told them that their own tech support people told me that it would not work. I requested an immediate cancellation.

I spoke to Andela on "Thursday, August 07, 2008 5:31 PM (EDT) Andela said she will cancel the account as of today". Then she said that she would give me a free month, I said I would remain as long as it would take to correct the problem, she said that she had no idea how long it would be to correct. I then cancelled since there was no point to remain.

Lingo is the most confused, dishonest company that I have dealt with in many years. They make you jump through many hoops; some hoops are burning, just to cancel. After you cancel they say that you did not cancel and continue to bill you. After you return their equipment they say they did not receive it. This company is obviously borderline (probably against their customers) running a fraudulent business. They do not honor their guarantees and fight you tooth and nail to not allow you to cancel. Now they are sending me threatening collection letters.

Buyer BEWARE, this is not a reputable company to do business with. There are many other alternatives available, such as Vonage or Comcast.
