I purchased automobile insurance from Progressive Ins Co., in November of 2011.  I was visiting a friend in Detroit on the evening of January 29, 2012, and when I returned to my vehicle someone had attempted to steal my vehicle, but, because my vehicle has a chip in it, they could not drive it away.

I called the claim dept, and reported the claim.  At that point everything appeared to be going ok until the adjuster called me the next day and  asked for proof of my address.  The only thing I had was a address change on the back of my license, which should have been adequate.  Here in lies the problem.  My father-in-law was having a little health difficulty, so I decided to go to his home in Shelby Twp, MI, and help him out temporarily.  I never actually moved in and I explained that to my adjuster Amanda Breske, in the Livonia, MI office. 

She treated me like a criminal from that point on, and I constantly kept explaining to her that I was not on his lease and was only helping him out.  You would  think at that point they would have given me the benefit of the doubt, but no they did not.  They started interrogating me as if I was trying to get a very large claim resolved.  The damage was only $2,416.00.  I have never been so humiliated in my life, and the bad part of all this is that they had no problem taking my money every month up to that point. 

I did not want to try and give all the details to this story but to make a long story short they ripped me off, because after taking my money for insurance premiums, they denied the very first claim I had because they could not get things the way they wanted.   And to add insult to injury, they asked me to disclose all of my tax records for 2011 and bank statements and other personal information.  Of course I did not give it to them. Are you kidding me, I am going to divulse all of my personal information to a company for a $2,416.00 claim.  I don't think so!!!  Just a little side bar, to let you know this is how ridiculous it got.   I, in so many words told them to take a flying leap.    

I really feel as though I was racially discriminated against and I would like to warn all blacks in particular, do not purchase insurance from Progressive Insurance company.  They look all warm and fuzzy on Television, "Don't Let the Smooth Taste Fool You".  I had to pay over $2,500.00, this includes a $300.00; tow bill.  "THEY ARE GARBAGE, PLEASE DON'T BE FOOLED BY THEIR CUTIE PIE COMMERCIALS"
