I had the great displeasure of working for this company for a very short period of time and I was absolutely horrified by what I witnessed during my short time there.  You see, I was reporting to the office of "KingCo Promotions, Inc.", I was hired under "Prolific Promotions, Inc." and I was independently contracted under "Chipio Windshield Repair, LLC.", formerly known as "Apple Auto Glass".  Pretty confusing, right?  I thought so.

Anyway, I began my employment with this company, being completely turned off the first day on the job.  I was asked to drive all the way to Decatur for my second interview, or Day of "O" (observation).  The wonderful Ms. Robin Sinclaire informed me not to worry, that I would be reimbursed to gas, which is the only reason I drove all that way.

I arrived to a car wash in the middle of Atlanta for this "Day of O" and before I got out of the car, I observed the people I was to interview with.  However, I won't name their names as I don't believe that they really know what they are involved with.  They were approaching cars relatively aggressively.  Smiling, brown-nosing, joking, and basically agreeing with whatever the person in the car was saying.  A F***ing SALES job?  I thought... No way.  Not me...

However, I was desperate as I was just let go from another job and thought I should really give it a shot.  My interviewer was a very smooth talker and knew just how to suck me in just enough that I would come to the office the next day.   So I watched what they did.

You approach a car and tell the customer that the car wash (or gas station) is offering a "new service" or it's "customer appreciation day" and we're just checking everyone's windshields for any chips or cracks and we're fixing them for no cost in most cases (if they are fully covered and they don't have State Farm, usually).  Of course, you always find a "serious" chip or crack  because every chip or crack is "serious".

This is when you inform the customer that you are taking care of these issues today and that it won't cost them anything at all.  We just have to get your policy card, call the insurance company and file a "no-fault" claim, which doesn't make your premiums go up and they waive your deductible.  A lot of people get this done.  We were "qualified" after watching someone do a repair and practicing once or twice on a dummy windshield...  Exactly how "qualified" IS that????

I wasn't even aware of this until after I left this horrible place that although it won't make your premiums go up, it will definitely keep you from getting better rates in the future...  What we were doing was scamming the insurance companies.

Now, for my personal issues with this place.  First off, I was told I would be reimbursed for gas.  LIE.  I was told that there was a base pay of $20 an hour.  LIE.  I was told that on top of that base pay that I would make a $20 commission off of each windshield I repaired.  LIE (it was $18).  I was told there were benefits after 90 days.  LIE.  My first paycheck was $72 short.  Did I ever get that $72?  NO.  I was told that I would receive all the equipment necessary to perform my job.  LIE.

If these people are SO rich and they made SO much money doing this, why aren't they living in nicer places?  Why can't they afford to give you so much as a logo'd shirt so you don't look like some random person walking around in a parking lot?  Why can't they afford to give you the proper equipment for they job you're doing to make THEM money?

Plain and simple, this is a pyramid scheme at it's best.  And now that I have had to go through this ridiculous mess and am now losing my apartment and having to move back home because they lied, I am getting back as quickly and with as much evidence as I think humanly possible.  I have contacted the BBB as well as the local media...

So thank you to the owners and operators of these companies.  Hopefully I will obtain the payback that so many people are looking for now that I have contacted those people.  Hope to see you all soon... on the six o'clock news...

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Not Entirely True. Actual Great company

AUTHOR: Ayana - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, September 17, 2014

I am an ex-employee of KingCo Promotions and the statements said are not entirely true.  The company owner is a reputable, outstanding man.  The job description is that of a "salesman/person" and as such, you are to be charismatic, charming, and a "brown-noser".  Companies such as Ford, Chevy, Honda, Walmart and any sales jobs have the exact same procedures when it comes to making sales and sales quotas.  Which in any sales persons case, the use of double meanings or rather not telling everything is used.  But if asked certain questions, the information is disclosed.

If the person posting had actually went in with an open mind and a hard sales drive, they might have had the pleasure as i have to be empployed with them and reap the benefits that the job included 9as was said by the owner).  The pay is only commision based yes, and it starts at $18, yes it does.  After working my way up im to the company, my ending posotion being assistant manager, my pay rate went from $18 purely commision to $26 dollars commision $8 overhead for employees under me that i was responsible for and had trained.

In light of the training.  The training for a basic windshield tech is an overnight class that you can take for a full week and pay for at any tech school (i looked it up).  The classes that you would pay a tech school for are the equevalent of the training that was given to all employees upon employment.  For we were not actually replacing windshields but patching small cracks in them.  So hours and weeks of classes is not required.  And in the event that an employee destroys a customers windshield, the company replaces that person windshield free of charge to them without the contact of the customers insurance.

The way everything works is like this: We set up shop at a destination where we then proceeded to clean everyones windshield with the starting pitch " We're having an appreciation day" or "We're here on behalf of Dare program cleaning and inspecting winshields to make sure everyone is driving safely?" We clan and inspect windshield, engage person in conversation. And 9 times out of 10, there will be a chip in the glass(microchip) or spider/bubble crack in the windshield as all windhields on vehicles that are driven on roads do. We point out the damage, and inform them that we can repair it at no out of pocket cost.  Why do they not have to pay for it.  Most ppl have comprehensive coverage included in their insurance. So with this coverage, they have the option of fixing things like a small crack or chip in windshield that in turn saves the insurance company money by them not taking the risk of it cracking the entire winshield to a point it needs to be replaced.  The reason we did not do those with State farm insurance in most cases is that most with State Farm have a deductable on their comp coverage and Georgia State Farm does not wave that deductable for thier policy holders.  which would mean they would have to pay thier deductable in order to get any cracks or chips patched.

The previous person stated that they learned that the customers later have trouble with their insurance, is false in that it depends on the policy holder themselves.  If they are the type of policy holder that never calls their provider making various claims, is late with payments, has numerous tickets on their record of course they will have a hard time with thier provider.  Who wouldn't?  I have actually had mine and my husbands vehicles as well as my mothers and other family members vehicles have thier windshield patched via this company in the last year.  We have had no problems with our inssurance at all.

This company is as prestigues as any other sales company with marals and respect amongst coworkers.  But we were also a family that took care of each other.  This company does not only set up shop at local gas stations and car washes (all of which were contracted for their presense) but also Army Bases, Walmarts, Krogers, Dollar general Stores. The list goes on and on of the places that had contracts with this company.

I had the pleasure of traveling to various place (Virginia, Florida, California) as well as compete in sales for various rewards ( all expense paid cruise to Cancoon).  The business model may be unorthadox to many on first imperssions but it is a legitimate business that has ample opportunity for growth, and to develop skills that last lifetimes.

Though i am no longer employeed with the company, a pregnancy that would not allow me to work in the conditions required, I would gladely take a position with this company again and start over from the bottom if i could.
