Proz company that contains a database of translators and translation agencies. They have a page called the Blue board. This is were agencies are reported by translators for non-payment or other complaints. What bother's me is that they allow posting against agencies by their translator database but the only way you can protect yourself is to pay for their monthly services.
Allot of their translators post their abilities on Proz. Proz makes no effort to confirm their abilities from certain language pairs. As we hire these translators, we question them and have them translate a sentence or two to see if they are competent. In most cases, when they translate a portion of what you need, they do well. Once you hire them and get the translation back, it is so bad, that you have to hire another translator just to get a good translation. This causes money for the agency as they have to hire a new translator and generally have to pay a rush fee. In addition, we risk loosing the job with the client and possibly loosing the client.
As most agencies know, we have to spend allot of money on marketing and advertising. Translators only wait for us to send them work.
We do not pay the translator that did the translation. We do consider paying them for work that they have already done, but if our loss of a project is more or if the loss of a client is substantial, we do not pay this vender for any work completed as this is their fault. Why should we be the only one that looses income due to their incompetence. Proz them posts these comments of nonpayment and basically claims that we are a bad paying company. We pay over 2000 translation transactions per month. If we get one posting every couple of months, there is a reason. It is not because we do not pay. It is because the translator is bad.
I am writing this report so Proz changes their policy and allow agencies who do not pay for their ripoff services to post rebuttals. Proz is a ripoff as this is just a tactic to make agencies pay for their crap services. Shame on you.
