PTA Enterprises is a distributor for The Kirby Co., vacuum cleaners.  United Consumer Financial Services finances only Kirby vacuums.  The whole process is unethical.

First PTA sends an anonymous person to your home to offer you a free carpet cleaning.  They say all they want is a referral if you're satisfied.  You think you're dealing with a carpet cleaning company.  Then a half hour or so later a salesperson shows up carrying a large Kirby Vacuum cleaner box.  RED FLAG #1.

You're then subjected to 3-4 hours of high pressure sales tactics and then comes the magic number of the cost for the machine.  Ready?  $2900!  RED FLAG #2.  Then after you nearly drop dead of a heart attack, they magically get that figure down to a lesser amount and say they'll finance it for you and it will cost you just $50 a month or so.  The excuse is a "Contest Discount" and taking away your old vacuum.  RED FLAG #3. 

All these tactics are unethical and come across as the SCAM they are.  All over the internet you can read other reports of people being quoted different figures for the cost of the machine.  So what does it really cost?  Who knows!  Apparently Kirby vacuums cost only as much as anyone is willing to pay.  Therefore, as you will see below, my response is that they are worth $0.

Then you get sucked in further and buy it.  The problem is you get a machine that breaks in a couple of weeks after you told them from the get go that there was a problem with it.  In my case, they lied repeatedly and said they'd replace it; then they said they wouldn't, that I'd have to take it to a local repair place, then they said the "local" repair place is one and half hours or more from my home and that I would now have to pay to have it repaired even though it's allegedly guaranteed for life.  After two weeks of arguing, they brought me a "new" vacuum to my home and showed how to hook in the handle, the very same handle that had the problem in the first place and then the tech guy left.  The next day I tried to use it and lo and behold it doesn't work!

PTA said tough luck.  They screwed me around for two weeks and lied repeatedly and now are saying they won't do anything about the non-working machine they gave me and they won't cancel the contract.  I have no functioning vacuum cleaner in my home today thanks to these fiends.

PTA broke the contract.

The KIRBY CO. washes its hands of EVERYTHING using the excuse that all these companies selling their expensive garbage are independents.  Kirby does not care how they operate and cares nothing about customer service.  All they want to do is get the vacuum in your home and wash their hands of you and the machines.

United Consumer Financial Services (UCFS) provides financing for only Kirby vacuums and The Kirby Co. even said UCFS has nothing to do with their company and that it's an independent.  The whole thing is one big scam from the top on down.
