I needed temporary storage as I was moving from one apartment to another, but had a two week gap between places. So i was simply crashing at my brothers place for two weeks, and got a storage unit to store all my stuff. Public storage has specials so the first month costs you very little. They want you to keep your unit for more than a month, or else they don't make much at all. My first month cost me 60$ total. My second month was to run me 160$. I rented my unit on 6.6.2016 and had to be out by 7.5.2016 in order to not be charged for an extra month. On 6.27.2016 I informed the property manager that I had lost the keys to my unit, and needed help. She told me that the owner could come and cut off the lock if I bought a new one from them (they charge something like 25$ for a 5$ lock...). So I did buy the lock from them, and informed the property manager that I needed the lock cut off before the 5th so I could get all my stuff out and not be charged for another month. I was promised that the lock would be cut off by 7.3.2016 in order to give me two days to remove my things and avoid being charged more.

The owner failed to cut off my lock and provide me access to my unit until 7.7.2016, and I believe this was done intentionally to force me to pay for an extra month that I didn't need. I was charged at the time, but disputed the charge with my bank (Wells Fargo) and they awarded me back the money deeming the charge fraudulent. However, this owner has no remorse, and has put the account into collections, despite my bank determining that fraud occurred. I have since written a letter informing the collections company that now owns my debt that I am disputing this charge, and that my bank has already deemed it fraudulent. This owner, and this business have no concern whatsoever for their customers. I informed them that I would be filing negative reports all over the web about their unfair practices, and they don't seem to care what the reviews of their business online look like. Do yourself a favor and go to ANY of the other several storage unit places in the area. These guys will screw you over every chance they get!
