Publix constantly has wrong pricing labels on their products. When you check out and if you don't watch the prices on the register, you will find that many items are priced wrong. When bring this to the attention of the check out clerk you are told you have to go to the service desk, wait in line for 10 minutes, then wait another 10 minutes to have someone check the price. THEN you are given a refund. I thought it was Publix's policy that if you were priced wrong then you received the product FREE but this was not done. I think it is disgraceful that we have to remember the price of every item we purchase and then, when they make a mistake you have to spend 20-30 minutes to get a refund.

Did you know?!

AUTHOR: Publix Employee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 02, 2008

Did you know that one, yes one person, takes care of all the prices for a single store?
I myself am a Scan Price Clerk which means that I change prices on everything in the store 3 times a week, Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
There are over 2000 price changes on each of these days adding up to over 6000 price changes each week.
We are only human and until a better way develops there are going to be mistakes made.
9 times out of 10 when I am called because something has rung up wrong - and after the customer has been given a 100% refund no questions asked - I check the price of the tag or sign to change/fix it, the customer is the one who is wrong.
When a sign says Buy one get one free on Post Cereal, it does not mean every single post cereal is on sale. The sign or tag says exactly what is on sale and the size and how much it is.
All the customers have to do is read.
And note, that my job consists of many more duties during the week than hanging 6000 tags a week.
Is it really worth it to make a big fuss because something rings up 10 more cents than you actually think it was?
We are not intentionally ripping you off, there are just so many items to take care of that mistakes are going to be made, simple as that.

When something rings up incorrectly the cashiers are not able to fix it once the order has been tendered (cashed out, credit card approved, check printed etc) so that is why you have to go to the customer service desk.
Once you get there you may have to wait behind another customer who is taking care of business.
Then the price must be checked so that it may be changed.
Now, our Policy is to give the refund, no questions asked. And you are getting the item for free, not the difference in price, so if you want to make a big deal about it is it not worth it to wait for 5 minutes to get free items?
But, some Office Staffs do go check the price because if we took the customers word that something rang up wrong people could tell us that their $40 blender rang up wrong and they would get that for free.

You are not getting ripped off.

price not being wrong, people not reading signs!

AUTHOR: Kevin - (U.S.A.)

99% of the time when someone thinks the price is wrong, its because they picked up the wrong size or item that it says on the tag or sign. and when you said that doesn't publix give you the item for free? they did, they just have to make sure that it was the right item for the price. when you said that you got a refund, that means you got it for free doesn't it?
