Stephen Barrett, M.D., is a self-appointed, radical retired medical professional (in his late 80’s), over impressed with his own intellectual capital, voicing his uneducated opinions without having any knowledge of new scientific breakthrough(s), in medical testing or treatments, who makes erroneous statements with no scientific basis for his Mad hatter opinions. This man recklessly seeks to gain fame and notoriety at the expense of hard working scientists and medical practitioners devoted to expanding the world of medical science. His statement, “Most of the laboratories listed below cater to practitioners who engage in nonstandard practices. All of these labs perform one or more nonstandard tests. Most also perform various standard tests. When evaluating practitioners, we would regard routine use of any of these laboratories as an unfavorable sign.” Is irresponsible and he owes the medical community a sincere apology, as no new medical breakthroughs can be achieved using out dated diagnostic testing, or technologies.  His opinions basically state, “we should all have stuck with X-Rays, as MRI’s and CT scans are a new science and old technology is always better.”  Though he criticizes new medical testing he has not called one of these laboratories, and ask for their CLIA numbers or their validation testing data to examine in detail and legitimately determine what these tests actually do, and how they can improve clinical diagnostics offering physicians a better understanding to provide better patient care. This man is a fraud, as he just lists Dr’s and companies on his website without real cause. He was a real Dr. 40 years ago, now he is the BIGGEST QUACK.
