I received a email about VA loans. Seeing that I'm a Veteran I figured I would like to see if I could get a VA loan for a home. Well, I received a call from Quicken loans and I was asked if I am a Veteran. With in 5 minutes I was told that I am approved by the VA for a home loan. They asked how much I needed. I told him that I have not even started looking for a home so I figured I would like to have $ 80,000. A couple of minutes later he said that I was preapproved for the loan through the VA. My wife and I started looking at houses and was shocked to find out that the prices were alot more than what we had thought for what we wanted in a home. So I called Quicken loans and asked if we can increase the amount to $110,000. After afew minutes he said " No Problem". We then found a home that we really wanted and I made the call again and I ask for an increase to $115,000. Remember! This is a VA loan!. Again, he said no problem. So, My wife and I made an offer and the seller excepted the offer. House went into contract. About 1 mouth later no progress from Quicken loans. I then contacted another loan company and one of the first questions that she asked me for was my DD214 from the military. I laughed, She asked me what I was laughing at. I told her that she was the first to ask for that! I then called Quicken loans and asked him how he had got me preapproved for a VA loan. He responded that he HAD me preapproved and that he needed to put the package together to GET APROVED!! It doesn't take a rocket scienctis to figure out what had told me! They never had me preapproved! !!!! They stright up lied from the beginning. They also wanted me to give them $ 400 for the aprasal and the money would returned to me at closing. I would not agree to those terms. We have found a home that we are in closets now with a loan company and they have not asked me for anything yet. People " DO YOUR RRESERACH BEFORE JUMPING ON THE FIRST COMPANY THAT CALLS OUT OF THE BLUE!!!
