I requested high speed DSL internet from Qwest October 25, 2006 and based on my credit report I had to pay a $75 deposit through Western Union which I payed on October 27th. An unexpected bill came up and I was forced to cancel my account to avoid paying the monthly bill within the next week. The situation was easy to take care of over the phone and when I asked about my refund I was told it should take 2-3 weeks to process and was given a refund order number.

A month and a half later I called to talk to an operator about my problem and they said they couldn't look up the refund order because an account had never been created and there was no point of reference for him to start, not even my personal information. I asked if there was anyone I could speak to about it and he said that refunds were handled with an automated system that no one had access to and once the information was put into the automated network the other information was then destroyed.

I asked to speak to a supervisor about the situation and was told that it could take "2-3 months for the refund to be processed, is there anything else I can help you with today?" Me: "Yes, I'd like to know who I can talk to about this." Supervisor (yelling): "Sir, I've already answered your question, thank you for calling Qwest." He then promptly hung up on me before I could respond.

Another month later I called back with information from a local kiosk manager on how to find a loophole. So I called credit management directly and asked about it and was told that they couldn't help me that they don't handle refunds, so I asked to be forwarded to someone who could and was told by a very patient, nice woman that it could take up to a year for my refund to be processed and no one at all could help with my problem. I'm convinced that I was sent to a specialist to end the conversation. She was a little too professional about the whole thing. No one else had been nice or polite to me at all and in fact got very angry very quickly.

There really isn't anything I can do, no one's willing to help me or even talk to me as soon as I tell them what my problem is. I have my Western Union receipt with all the information on it but it doesn't do me any good because the information that Qwest had on it has been destroyed, supposedly to "protect my privacy."

I don't know about them, but $75 is alot of money to me, especially since I'm between jobs and very low on money.
