My husband and I are custome builders. We have/had a client had a cash contract for building a home. We allowed them to store items in the basement while the home was being completed. Due to conditions we had no control over the completion date was extended several times. (Weather, Subcontractors and Matierials)

Home owner insisted on moving in before home was complete. We still had numerious items that needed attention and a lot of painting to do. Interior doors to install and paint. And landscaping and interior fixtures.

At the time that my husband allowed them to move in they held a large portion of the last installment. The client selected items that were 2 to 3 times the allowance on several items after moving in.

Since they moved in we have had 4 different paint crews in the house trying to finish the house along with other subs to complete the items that needed to be completed. The clients have made all of them so uncomfortable by so much complaining that the subs refuse to go back. And my husband said he would
rather be beat.

no one can get anything done for their complaining and even when someone does something they are never satisfied.

I've now over 50,000 over the contract price in this house and am now having to seek legal action.

so Now I know why most of our fellow builders in the area will no longer build custom homes.
