We bought a television from Brandsmart.  The sales price of the television was $500.00, we thought it would be nice to finance such a nice tv.  So, we financed it through RAC, but we have been paying for this $500.00 tv for 15 months at $165.00 per month because each month that you do not pay it out, they add more fees to eat the money that you have already paid.

They refuse to tell us what the payout is unless you pay whatever ridiculous amount they claim you still owe.  If you think about financing through these leaches...Run,.  Run fast and hard!

This is True! It happened to me!

This story is definitely true and I can relate to it. I was told the same thing from a RAC Acceptance employee when buying furniture from a local store in Jackson, MS. I was initially told that if I make higher payments later, I can pay off my account. Now that I am calling in to do this, I am being told that I can no longer do this, the policy has changed. I purchased an item that was $1699, I have made over 10 payments (NEVER LATE) that total over $2100. The manager that I talked to today could not hardly give me any info about my account nor could he tell me what the interest rate is. My choices were to keep paying monthly for 24 more months or to pay it off at $1616! I refuse to do either one of these. To the rebuttal above, yes I had bad credit when I made this purchase. However, I was in the process of cleaning that and at this time, I'm almost debt free. Regardless of anyone's financial state, they do not deserve to be taken advantage of. I pride myself on asking questions and reading the fine print. But this time, I was lied to. The manager told me that although it was true that I could pay off my account at a lower interest rate back then, this was not the case now. When I asked him when the rules changed and why was I not made aware of this, he said that this is just how it is. Well I am not going to stand for it. I have paid over $2000 for a $1600 item. I am willing to pay what I owe but I am not going to be taken advantage of. One of the reasons that I agreed to this deal is that I had the option of paying off the account early with smaller interest rate. Since this is no longer the case. I am going to take this further than the manager of the store!

You are not telling the entire story..

because each month that you do not pay it out, they add more fees to eat the money that you have already paid.

- That is called Interest, and applies to EVERY loan or credit line.  You are with a Sub-Prime lender who deals specifically with people who have not proven they can handle credit.  As such you are seen as a HIGH RISK, and HIGH RISK = HIGH INTEREST.  But even this does not make sense based on what you are saying.  Even if their Interest rate was 100%, at $165/month you would have that paid off in about 5 months.

If this was some sort of "lease" situation.  Again for you to still have any balance at 15 months, they would have to be taking more than $125 of your $165 payment in fees.

Of course both of these assume you are paying on-time.  If you are not making your full payments by the due date they are most likely adding additional interest and fees which can very easily eat up a lot of your payment.

They refuse to tell us what the payout is unless you pay whatever ridiculous amount they claim you still owe

- What?????  This "rediculous" amount is the payout...that is unless you are behind in your payments(see above RE: Late Payments).

By the way how much is this "ridiculous" amount they claim you owe?
